78 days till christmas, and then we are treated to hopefully another great Doctor Who special.

David Tennant and Kylie Minogue are a great combination from what has been said and shown so far.

I wonder if 'Porg' will be joined by any other aliens?

any thoughts or information is welcome.

Lol you really are keen, starting this one going 78 days ahead!

Anyway, I hear the Porg will be joined by the Pomulans, the Plingons and the Pardassians. Or am I confused?

So what's been said to imply that they're a great combination - actual set reports from disinterested onlookers or worthless media puff from the production office? And what's been shown to imply this apart from a couple of static images, has any footage been released?

"Porg" is only a nickname given on set to the character, isn't it? I know it was explained in the second live show from The League of Gentlemen as standing for Person Of Restricted Growth. So presumably the character's name has yet to be revealed.

Well so far the story line is known to be that the Doctor finds himself trapped on the ship and can only get off the ship by releasing a christmas number one with Kylie and taking part in a onboard dance competion. They then have to give the ships bridge a room makeover and kylie finds she is the last of a line of Hamper killers. Her misssion is to drive a stake through the heart of a Hamper seller who is sucking life blood out of the wallets of the passengers. Lucky for her she finds help onboard in the form of a British professor called Piles. And the ship is kept sailing by the ships engineer Grotty who is from India but born in Glasgow.

How do we know this is the Titanic of Earth in 1912? Why can it not be a spaceship of sorts? Besides, why would a waitress on the Titanic be called an alien name like Astrid?

Astrid an alien name? I think you will find it is Scandinavian..From the Old Norse apparently, but made popular in 'recent' times by a Queen of Belgium.

So Kylie is probably playing a Swedish waitress..

Sounds like it could be quite saucy

Thought the pictures of Kylie in a short skirted outfit pretty much ensured that it wasn't the 1912 Titanic - plus the lighting in the background

(sorry for the link, it was first that had a decent sized picture)

Been meaning to comment on Astrid's short skirt too. In my limited knowledge I didn't think waitresses (or any female) wore short skirts back then (especially not paired with knee-hi lace-up boots!) so I don't think it is set in 1912.

Actually, I think you'll find that the name Astrid, is an anagram of ... TARDIS.
