22nd October looks like an interesting week for the charts, with both Take That and Leona launching new singles. I would expect that both will be expecting to win the top slot that week - who does everyone think will get it? Is there anything else out that week?

I reckon it'll be a close-run thing, but with X-Factor on the tele just now (and Leona guaranteed to be on plugging her record in release week), i think that might be enough to swing it in her favour. Also, will Take That not be on tour by then so how much promotion will they be able to do?To be honest, if she DOESNT get the number 1 after waiting this long it will be a bit of an embarressment for her wont it?

Quite looking forward to seeing how this turns out....

I think and hope Leona gets the #1. She's performing on the X-Factor the day before her song's released so I think she had the edge.

McFly are also releasing that day and they're fans seem to always get their singles really high in the charts.

They both need to make #2 at worst. TT sold a massive number of albums and this one doesn't appear on an album which should boost sales as well as being the soundtrack to a big budget movie.

Leona has an XF appearance which will help. Unlike previous winners, she is actually getting quite alot of airplay which should help, and the single hasn't been universally hated as many would have expected.

I think Leona will get it. The most important thing is that her album sells alot of copies.

Yes, it's very important. We, the people of Britain, desperately need a big selling Leona album to help lift the spirits. England winning the Rugby World cup and Hamilton winning the F1 Drivers World Championship can only go so far in raising the mood of the people, Leona selling a shitload of albums will be the catalyst for mass contentment in this sceptred isle. I reckon it's why Brown has delayed the Election for a few weeks*

I would rather Mcfly got it, they usually get very high chart positons

I actually think Take That's song is the best of the three.

I like Take That's new song.

I haven't heard Leona or Mcfly's new songs.

I didnt realise McFly were going for that date too. I don't usually like their stuff, but i heard that on the radio a couple of times last week and liked it - i was quite surprised when they said who it was.

TT and McFly both have quite a big fan base who will probably do their best to give their favourite the no.1 slot while Leona's has the X-Factor backing so it could be one of the biggest selling top 3s for a while!

I'm tipping, incidentally,

1.Leona
2.Take That
3.McFly

Although in preference, i would go for Take That, McFly then Leona.

McFly's desperation puts me off them completely. They always add "special" exclusives to their single releases to get fans to buy them so they can get a #1. They also recently said at a concert "Everyone buy our single so we can beat Leona Lewis." If they do win, I hope they fall out of the charts quickly like they always do.

Tough call. I absolutely love Take That's new single and Leona's (not a fan) single is suprisingly good too. Think Take that might just do it, but then I am bias.

I love both songs but as a TT fan I have to believe they can do it They do have a bigger fanbase imo. Actually thinking about it, I think their song comes out to download the week before so they could be number 1 for a week and then Leona....Oh I dunno as long as TT do it

Hopefully Leona will take the top spot

Mcfly got to number 1 with their last song that then dropped to no 20 so if they do emerge the winners, it will sell only a fraction of the other 2 records

I can't see them coping well in such a big week. They have a habit of releasing in quiet weeks, going to number one when all their young fans run out to buy it, then, as you said, they collapse through the charts.

As for the TT song, I'm still not totally "getting it". Not a patch on "Patience", but still an OK song.

I dont want TT to get it, i dont think RTW is very good tbh - personal op. i much prefered Patience. AND iwfl flopped spectaculally!
I think McFly have a good tune, however, as we all know they have a crash and burn policy with singles latley and the download for a £1 on yer moby thing will plug the track. Leona will preform in front of 7million people the nigt before the release- many of which voted for her to win - so id imagine it would be as follows -

1. Leona - 57,000
2. McFly - 34,000
3. Take That - 32,000

I would be very happy with that. Hope you're right.

I'll say:

1. Leona - 70,000 to 80,000
2. Take That - 55,000 to 65,000
3. McFly - 25,000 to 35,000

I expect Leona to beat Shayne's release of "No Promises".

Whoever is number 1, it's clear that true, non-manufactured pop will be the winner....

I hope Leona gets it, it is a truly amazing song, the quality of which, we haven't heard for years.

... and I hope the generic pop fodder from Britney doesn't knock her off the following week.

Oasis or Britney will be no1 on downloads only.

Hmm tough one...i'd say Leona, as the X Factor is a great place to promote a single, but TT are on Jonathan Ross and it has lots of airplay too....REALLY hope it's not McFly as i HATE them!

Id Wait For Life didnt do that well compared to the previous two, but then it was the 3rd single off an album that had flogged nearly 2million copies (so everyone and their dog had it already) and had next to no promotion - i dont think you can really use that as a basis for evaluating the prospects for their new single.

I dont hear the radio too much - are the 3 records all getting airplay?
