Ideally the tweeter on your speakers should be at ear height when you are listening to them. This is what should determine the height of your speaker stands to achieve this.

The previous owners of my house had KEF 2005.2 surround speakers mounted round the top of the family room walls. Suffice to say the surround effect when sitting was weird. |

I have seen stands adjustable up to about 48", but these tend to be universal stands for the surrounds, they are only suitable for lightweight satellite speakers, not bookshelf speakers.
Atacama stands range from 200mm to 1m. http://www.atacama-audio.co.uk/speakerstands.htm Ideally the tweeters on the fronts should be at ear level when seated and the rears 2-3ft above ear level, again when seated. |

They will be for surround sound. I'm using Monitor Audio SFX rears.
I can't drill into my walls which is why I want tallish stands. It looks like I will have to have the speakers at just above ear height. That's the best I can do. |

The best I can come up with for now is a pair from Turnkey, they don't look that attractive but go up to a height of 45.3".
Price is for one stand. http://www.turnkeyonline.com/web/pro...00&context=WEB |

If I hadn't have found them I think I would have gone for the ones you mention. I had a quick look and managed to find them being sold for £38.00 each plus £9.00 P+P (£85.00 in total) which isn't too bad. |
