BT Accounts Online

Is anyone else having difficulty accessing their BT account, particularly the Billing side? I've so far not received an e-mail about my current charges (I signed up for online billing so no letters) and, whilst I've been able to log-in, the billing info has not been forthcoming.

I'm having problems too. BT's site says that my last bill was 5 Sept, my next bill is 5 Nov. What has happened to the 5 Oct bill?

No doubt they won't forget to take the DD out of my account next week

I am unable to view my bill due Sept 07 and indeed had similar problem to view my June 07 bill.. I have emailed BT and here is the reply...

Dear Mr Greenfield,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 20/10/07 regarding online bill.

Please accept my apologies

It has been brought to our attention that in some circumstances the bill is not shown in the website. We are aware of this problem, and are looking to resolve it as soon as possible. We have therefore decided to disable the feature until these problems have been fully resolved. We hope to restore this service as soon as possible, but at this point we do not have a timescale for this.

I can arrange a bill to be sent with full itemisation. Regarding sending you the duplicate paper copy of the telephone bill, I would like to inform you that this copy will be chargeable. The charge for the duplicate copy of your telephone bill is £4.70 incl. VAT, which will show up on your next bill.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this matter has caused.

Thank you for contacting BT.

Needless to say I declined their "offer" for a duplicate!!!

I've had a similar e-mail from BT accounts online, but in my case they've had to de-register me for online billing, and then register me for "dual billing" (online and paper).

They're going to send me a copy of my October bill in the post (the one which went missing), and give me a credit of 50p seeing as it's not my fault that the online bill went missing.

Once I've received the paper copy of October's bill, I've then to register just for online billing ready for November to avoid the 50p charge (they're only going to give me one credit).

There's now a message on the Accounts section of BTs site saying that online billing has gone awry in some cases.

And yes, they did remember to take the direct debit for the missing bill - right on time!!

They've taken the Direct Debit payment today (usually it's in the middle of the month) but although the figure seems right I've had no e-mail (I signed up to paper-free billing), and the website's not providing anything more recent than September.

Are they allowed to take a Direct Debit payment without writing to you two weeks beforehand? I had no idea when it was going to be taken after the usual date had passed by. Suppose I had drained my account?

See one of the other threads here: a hacker got in and disrupted the system but Ben Verwaayen's office has assured me that nothing was taken and access to our billing is being restored.

Over the weekend they have changed parts of the site to comply with ofcom, no longer can you track any order that you don't have a refernce for (stops you checking up on broadband orders with other providers)

Oct 27th. My bill from September 2007 has finally appeared. At the bottom of the bill is this message

Your landline special offer credit
As part of our special offer, youwill save £20.40 (ex. VAT) in ayear on your BT TogetherOption fee.

This will be seen in the
Promotion Discounts section
as monthly discounts of £1.70
(ex. VAT) over the next year.

Anyone know what this offer relates to?

Finally I can view my October bill online. My service charges always seem nearly £30 dearer than the calls we make. I put £5 on the BT payment card every week so by the time the bill arrives every 3 months just over half of it has already been payed. I pay my broadband though the BT bill as well.

I had an argument with a woman in India about this (in the BT call centre, not some random woman on the street you understand) and she said it was referring only if upgrading from Option 1 to Option 2 or 3. I said it doesn't say anything about upgrading, nowhere is the word 'upgrade' mentioned, but learned nothing more.

I would still like to know if BT acted legally or not in Direct Debiting the money without giving me the two weeks notification of the amount first! To this day I've never received a breakdown of the last bill and I was supposed to be receiving a credit, don't know if it's been applied or not.

I had a similar response when I enquired about this issue, to which I told them if I don't receive a bill (free of charge) via post or email, I won't be paying it. A paper bill arrived a few days later
