It was hard enough to get rid of her the first time

You are not wrong, at least the new set up will get rid of the dead wood first.

To be honest, if Kate can't dance then the BBC should do either one of two things - eliminate her as technically she'll be the lowest placed dancer OR and this is my preferred solution hold over the votes until the following week when hopefully she will be able to dance.

My concern is that we're going to see someone eliminated on Saturday who potentially wouldn't have gone IF Kate was dancing - of course I know there is no guarantee that Kate would go out the first week if she were to dance but if she's not then I don't think it's fair on the other contestants to eliminate someone as we won't have seen all the candidates dance.

Insanity!

It's a shame for Kate; I really hope she does get to dance but it's not looking too good.

Some people are suggesting holding over the votes until next week, but how would this be possible as the men are also dancing the following week. That would mean that the ladies would have a weeks worth of votes advantage!

I just worry that if she does manage to dance on Saturday, will she be able to dance the week after? If it is still uncertain now for Saturday - it doesn't bode well for the week after.

I suppose the best case would be for her to dance on Saturday and then be elimiated - but it does seem a bit harsh.

I really like Kate, and i was hoping she would do well on this show. And then she hurt herself

Im just concerned that she hasnt had as much practice. So, even if she is fit to dance, she might be a bit more amateur.

I hope she doesnt go this week, as i really do want her to do a LOT better than Fiona Phillips (I think Phillips is secretly hoping Kate will go first, as it makes her not look 'quite' so bad).

Another thought occured to me. She's supposed to be doing the quickstep on Saturday which is a fast dance and tough on the feet SO once she got the injury would it not have been possible to change her dance to something more gentle like the Waltz to give her every chance to do a reasonable dance without all the flashiness of the Quickstep?

I am afraid nothing can improve the memories of Fiona dancing. First time I felt sorry for Brendan.
A level of co-ordination that made me wonder how she was able to walk.
Not her fault. It's what you are born with.
I thought she was courageous, but so down on herself that she could not relax and learn to move. Probably with Anton she would have been better. Full credit for giving it a go.

I think this is where the new "Judges" power comes into play.

If Kate has been advised not to dance but goes ahead anyway dances badly, and gets the lowest score with the judges she would have to have a lot of people vote for her to take her out of the bottom two (although I know it's happened before but rarely out of the bottom two - it's a risk the BBC might take as they have 4 previous series of statistics to go on plus less voting time this year).

Then she'd be in the bottom two and be eliminated by the judges anyway...

I can't remember what they did last year when Tarby pulled out.

Nothing!
They just carried on as normal with an eviction every week but only 2 dancers in the final rather than 3.

They did nothing, which is why we ended up with Mark and Matt doing 150 dances each in the final*

*Possibly slight exaggeration

Hope that doesn't happen again. I felt let down with only two in the final last year to be honest. I felt we were deprived of a show dance, and more of a competition.

I agree holding the votes over until the following week would be unfair unless they did a double elimination. IE one of the female dancers goes regardless and then one of the bottom two as well - of course we could see two females eliminated BUT that's a chance they'd have to take.

Thats right, so we can assume that is what will happen if Kate can't take part, but it is rather a shame for Anton.

If Kate is unable to dance, my Mum is more then happy to stand in for her and do a nifty foxtrot with Anton

I'd like to see Kate dance, but not if she's going to injure herself permanently! If she's unable to dance I say bring back Louisa who shouldn't have gone when she did. Should give the current girls some competition - watch those feathers fly!

I love Anton so i am sad that he always gets the lame ducks (this time literally) - I hope she can dance this week just so I can see him in something other than the 'half time entertainment'.

No, it was definitely 150 dances each.

No, we don't ~ but my gut instict would be that they didn't get the lowest votes overall ~ Karen is very popular (more so than Ola, who hasn't had enough "exposure" ( pun intended) on the show to garner a fanbase to rival Karen's.

And I'm not sure how popular Kenny is, but Brian had the whole Grange Hill (swoon!) / Corrie thing going for him.

So I'd say B&K probably got more votes and weren't the absolute bottom couple.

What worries me is that if Kate dances and ends up in the bottom two, will the judges take in to consideration her injury when making their choice and therefore risk treating the other couple unfairly or go purely on how she danced. I think it will put the judges in a very difficult position.

I think the insecure ladies will cry foul! The woman with her first name starting with G might spring to mind...

you would think that the BBC would have a male & female replacement ready just incase someone gets injured before the 1st show - if someone drops out after the first show like Tarby they should carry on as they did last year
