They do not appear to be in the least bit concerned if this is anything to go by.

That doesnt surprise me - they can hardly back down on their new idea so soon!

But, why cant they find something else to fulfill the quality entertainment need on a sunday evening without denting an already existing, successful show that has always been on saturdays?

As long as they don't try and kid us that it is Sunday when it is filmed.

It would be a humiliating climbdown for them if they ditched the Sunday show after only one week.

Don't hold your breath - as reported elsewhere on Digital Spy, the BBC have only just said it was a mistake to bring back Dirty Den in 2002!

EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer has admitted that bringing back Dirty Den five years ago was a mistake that damaged the show.

Whatever spin the BBC press office and producers try to put on it, the change of format is a HUGE mistake.

All the expectation, anticipation and excitement is gone forever now that a Sunday recording is on offer.

I for one am NOT interested in watching a programme where the result is already known via the web.

This press office statement goes a long way to make out that the Sunday show is LIVE, when we all now know it is not.

This particular phrase is blatantly midleading:

Quote:
“In a change to the format, the judges will make the final decision on who will leave the competition on Sundays.”

If that sentence isn't a deliberate "spin" on the facts then I don't know what is.

I think the only thing the BBC will take notice of is ratings. If the Sunday night show takes a battering, they'll be forced to re-consider, otherwise we'll probably get more of the same PR spin from them.

All the same it's a bit of a humiliation for them to have to deny they intended to mislead - when they very clearly did. They can at least now see the plan is not working!

We must keep on complaining. Possibly it will make no difference at all, but if nobody complains then it definitely won't make a difference.

The BBC's response is a wilful misunderstanding of the complaints about the two-show format.

The difference between SCD and Jonathan Ross/Question Time etc. is that SCD is a competition and the whole point of the Saturday show was the build up of tension before finding out who was going out on the same evening.

Discovering the result from the internet/Sunday papers etc. completely negates the whole point of the show. I don't want to spend Sundays doing a Likely Lad avoidance any sort of media.

Huge own goal by the BBC and complete disregard for its licence fee paying audience.

Oh yeah, but there are two separate issues now. Moving the show to Sunday, and the deception.

Complaining about the deception is important and will require a response from the BBC. If there are enough complaints it could get very embarrassing for them, especially given the current scandal surrounding trust and television (and as the BBC1 controller has just had to resign over it).

Complaining about the Sunday night show will, I fear, lead nowhere as the BBC seem only concerned with winning a ratings battle with commercial stations and not on serving their customers wishes. Sadly. We'd just get more of the same patronizing spin. Can't do any harm to complain of course, but unlike the dishonesty issue, they're not likely to take a blind bit of notice.

I think there is a good chance the money that goes to Children in Need via Strictly will go down, as fewer people watch or vote. Maybe that is another angle we should take when voicing our concerns on how they have managed to mangle beyond recognition a show we all loved.

I honestly have no problem with the Sunday show, in fact I feel its more of an event like this and do enjoy the tension building up to the result over a day.

But its not live, it pretends to be live, and its just downright pointless it serves no purpose only to fuel the new X Factor style voting rip off

With Len and Brunos involvement with DWTS the only way to sort this is by doing it all on a Saturday

The same BBC1 Controller who made the decision about Strictly. Yes, it was Peter Fincham.

The fact that they are still trying to make out Sunday is live is really annoying, IMO. I mean, they did it again last night on ITT when Claudia was talking to Len and he mentioned flying out to LA on Sunday to be a judge on the US show after doing the Saturday over here, and she scolded him for letting that out.

Brucie even stated in the opening of the programme that it was Sunday, which it was not. The comments about "last night on Strictly", everything about it struck me as being a show masquerading as a live Sunday show (live, or pre-recorded live, but taking place that Sunday). Totally false.

Everyone's a celebrity these days.

Did they really only receive 25 complaints?

Right, obviously what we need is more complaints. And, would you call this an Ofcom matter?

This is my issue with it as well. Despite the fact that we were told the lines would close by 9pm on Saturday night, I felt no sense of urgency to vote like I have done in previous series when I knew that there would a results show that same evening.

With the live results show, I felt more like I needed to make sure I had my say before seeing who would have to leave later on that night. That whole tension and build-up was sorely lacking from this Saturday night's show, for me.

On the BBC website you can email the BBC official complaints department, which I did, and under programme complaints you can state you complaint .... "misleading the public about a live show, the fact you could find out the results either by spoilers or as my mum did while paying for her paper 09:00 Sunday and how it had ruined the show. I said they need to do a live results show either by reverting to Saturday nights or live on Sunday as they had ruined SCD and taken away the tension/anticipation from the show.

You also have the option of asking for a reply from them, which they say you should receive within ten days.

I suggest we all use this format for complaining, in the news today they said they had received 25 (!!) complaints, and I assume they must use this format for there figures.

Would be interesting to see if the bottom 2 of the leader board at the end of the Saturday night show are the 2 that end up in the Dance Off on the results show. Maybe they aren't getting harldy any votes to make much of an impact on the points. In previous years the bottom of the leaderboard have rarely been in the bottom 2 until towards the end of the series.

I did this a week ago when I first heard about the changes, and did indeed get a reply from them - within 24 hours in fact - as did others on this board - the same, stock, standard reply for everyone and we were all informed that our complaint had been logged. So yes, it's a good idea to use this format and any other formats we can find. Keep hassling them in other words.

With viewing figures of 7.4 million for Sat and 6.8 million for Sun making a combined total of 14.2 million I think they will be sticking to this formula for the forseeable future. I believe the start of the programme will always generate high viewing figures, but after viewers get to see this years celebs in action, they will decide whether they are worth tuning in for week after week.

Will be interesting to see if they can maintain these good figures.

I actually loved the Sunday night show. I don't love the fact that it isn't live... but I loved that we got more group dances etc. I am assuming they film all but the actual results before 9 p.m. and then film the results then... then all can go home.

I'd be happier for it to be on Saturday night as now I realise that it isn't live... we're going to know the results before they actually happen which will spoil the excitement and nerve-racking tension that is part of Strictly. I have to admit that I didn't realise it wasn't live until I watched ITT on Monday and heard Len tell Claudia he went to the airport on Sat night. All the friends I have spoken to since all believed it was live too. It's just a shame that results may sneak out before the actual show - and how can they not - but the longer show is appreciated by me.
