The Time Lord stunned his girlfriend when he ended their romance—by PHONE.

He called Sophia while she was filming in LA, blaming the split on the miles between them.

Friends claim that 27-year-old Brit Sophia was devastated when Tennant, 36, called time on their two-year love affair.

One said: "It was a complete shock for Sophia—she didn't see this coming. David just called and said it was all over. He stressed that there was no one else and it was just one of those things.

"It's been hard for them both because she's filming in LA and David's been working in the UK."

He's decided to be openly Gay and move in with me.

I guess I'll have to give David Duchovny his marching orders . . . . where's the phone . . .

He must have a good reason for splitting up with Sophia because she's bloody gorgeous. Taking a guess it's probably that they hardly see each other now. But anyone who believes he simply dumped her with a phone call is stupid. They've been going out for ages, it's just not possible to do that.

I know. If I'd ever bought any of his rubbish records I probably would have stopped buying them. Luckily, I'm not totally deaf.

I don't really see the probably with breaking up with someone by phone, if they are in LA and you are in Wales and you think its unlikely you'll see each other for a while because you're both so busy.

I've been dumped over the phone many many times and, frankly, its much better than being dumped face to face.

First time I'd heard that one! That is just SO cold.
I'm trying to think how you would top that one....

I suppose you could send it by second class post addressed to "The Occupier"!

Phone must be the best of several bad scenarios:
- fax and email are just too cold
- travel all the way to LA, partner all excited, and you say on arrival - 'just came to tell you it is all over' - I don't think so!
- or even worse, travel all the way to LA, spend several days together doing whatever you do after weeks apart , and THEN say 'sorry, it's all over, but I didn't want to ruin the weekend by telling you before!?'

Phone is personal, but does not have the huge disappointment factor that face-to-face must create if there is such a long distance between the two people.

funnily enough someone else brought this one up on the Genesis forums today

It was infact a slightly twisted tabloid story. There was indeed an angry fax to his wife, but it was never a notice for a divorce!
