BT privacy caller ID
I've just had another line installed however the callder dosplay doesn't work - faults have told me twice that there is a national fault with the service, is this correct?
My other lines all work perfectly fine which confuses me

My other lines all work perfectly fine which confuses me ![]() Same reason BT now more often have to charge £125 for a new connection and tie you to a 12 month contract on line rental (doesn't mean you can't take your calls elsewhere though such as Primus Saver 2 and 18185). BT Open Reach have to treat all Telcos the same. BT are forced to install lines. Other Telcos although they can get BT Open Reach to install a line, nearly all of them don't, as they don't want to pay the £100+ fee to BT Open Reach, they'd rather BT Retail pay the £100 fee and then they pay the £2.38 fee to take over a live line. |

Thanks for the reply, I just called up BT again & they claimed it was active on the account & to report it as a fault, I called up 151 who said it is showing as being on the account so will raise it as a fault but he said not to expect a reply back
I also checked *#234# to see for myself but "sorry service requested is not available" |

Many people do seem to be having problems getting this, this is due to BT now having to pay BT Open Reach for the service, whereas before when the company wasn't split into two BT didn't charge themselves for the service, on top of the new system for new customers due to this splitting of BT Open Reach and BT Retail.
I think you have picked up bits and bobs of what BT people have posted on here and you try to come across as some sort of know-it-all. There is only one type of caller display BT Retail order regardless of whether it is the stand alone version or alongside BT Privacy. |

What an absolute load of rubbish you have typed there.

There is only one type of caller display BT Retail order regardless of whether it is the stand alone version or alongside BT Privacy. I didn't say there was a difference in Caller Display. BT have a new system in place for line rental (WLR3), this is causing the problems on top of the fact BT Retail have to 'buy the service from BT Open Reach' (£1.80 per quarter) whereas like I said previously when it was all one company they didn't charge themselves for the service, the same as they didn't charge themselves for new lines. Other Telco's weren't happy that they had to pay for services, yet BT Retail got them free. Prices can be found at: http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/pricing/wlrprices.do Open Reach have to treat BT Retail the same as any other provider. Like I said, because of the new system for new accounts / new lines on top of BT Retail now having to swallow the cost it's leading to delays on adding on Caller Display for free. Now you stop posting rubbish, stop being so rude and quit making yourself look a fool! There was indeed a national fault with Caller Display, but only for new WLR3 customers who took Caller Display as part of Privacy At Home. Call 0800 022 3089 or email residiental.services@bt.com they should be able to sort the problem out for you. |

No, it isn't. There is the 'normal' stand alone version of caller display that is chargeable at £5.25 per quarter that works exactly the same as the BT Privacy version, now if 'free' caller display is causing delays in orders being placed then why are chargeable caller display order, which are ordered in exactly the same way, not affected? BT Retail place the order for Caller Display, it is up to them how much they decide to charge for it, if anything. Why are you mixing up Caller Display with Line Rental. There is a new system in place for LINE RENTAL - READ THAT LINE RENTAL - READ THAT LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL LINE RENTAL FFS I know some people are thick but this takes the biscuit. There was / is a problem with the ordering system on the NEW LINE RENTAL SYSTEM THAT IS LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL - You GET IT? LINE RENTAL. This new system for LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL is WLR3. The ordering system was not able to add on the Caller Display service without it charging for it. The BT Privacy and the paid for Caller Display are the same bloody thing, except you pay for the one and not the other. I never once said there was a difference other than one is free and the other not. I said there was a new system for new accounts / LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL - LINE RENTAL -LINE RENTAL -LINE RENTAL. And because of this there was national fault with adding on the Caller Display feature as part of the Bt Privacy at home. Why play the fool, why act like an idiot? Why Why Why? Make yourself look stupid why don't you! |

I am not mixing up Caller Display and line rental. The new system is not WLR3, the new system introduced is called Oneview, although it isn't that new as our office has been using it since last year. WLR3 is the type of line rental service bought from the supplier. Oneview is the new database system where new account data is stored. This holds the records for both line rental and any additional services on that line ie caller display! The only thing charged separately and not through Oneview is BT Broadband as that hasn't been built into Oneview yet. |

Oh Jesus H, you are complete and utter tool.
One day mate, one day, you just wait and see. The fault with Caller Display option via BT Privacy only affects customers of WLR3. No wonder things don't get sorted if people like you run them |

No wonder things don't get sorted if people like you run them You were the one that said there was a problem getting the service working because Retail had to pay the supplier. You said this in your post at 0225 this morning. Do you concede that this is not the reason an order for caller display may be delayed? I think you should leave all the line rental through BT and calls through x, y and z to Heinz, he does a far better job of it than you. |

Maths and sciences are my strong subject, along with money saving and helping with budgeting and money management, unfortunately I've never been much good with English. I had to get a new ID on here as I could no longer log into my old account due to change of email address and forgotten password, I'd been on here since a couple of months after the site was up. I'm on MSE quite often too. Let us not fall out because my grasp at English isn't as great as yours. |

Greetings to you all. Just a note to say that I have managed to get Caller Display activated today as part of BT Privacy on my new line having tried and tried since line activation on 25th September (so good to have it back!). I appreciate from the many, many calls to Customer Services that there has been some kind of problem and some new system is being introduced but my notes show that I was promised Caller Display activation 7 times within the period "within 24 hours" but to no avail. In all fairness to the Agents the vast majority were courteous and very helpful and I'm not suggesting that I was fobbed off. In fact I could detect and edge of frustration at the other end on many occasions.
The only gripe I have with BT is the time spent trying to get through to a real person but that seems to have been raised elsewhere on here so I won't go on about it ![]() Anyway its good to be here and have my Caller ID back on. Cheers. |
