Has "It takes two" always been so boring?

I've found the shows so far this week very tedious viewing, and they've even made me annoyed at the dancers for no good reason. (Did they have to go on and on and on about Penny's legs, for instance?) I can already see how the show will turn people against other dancers.

The opening part tonight where we watched the couples come in was completely pointless. Why was it there? Did they really have nothing better to do with the time?

I like Claudia a lot, and when I've watched (from time to time) in the part, it seemed a good show; but now I'm starting to wonder.

Me too, lovin' it! You don't have to watch it if you don't like it.

To be fair I think the OP has somewhat of a point, although I would give a couple of reasons, firstly it's only just got going again, secondly perhaps anyone who is a bit hacked off with the new format of the main show might be transferring their feelings onto ITT a bit? Just a thought.

Trust me it is much better than last series - no pointless celebs coming on and flogging their wares for a start. At least it's actually about the dancers.

The main thing I think is missing is training footage but I don't think they've done that well since Series 2. I'd love to have Strictly Confidential back where they show you some highlights every day but for some reason they dropped that.

It's only 2 episodes in! Give it a chance - I thought it was good both days anyhow!
I think Claudia is a hoot!

I think the problem at this stage is they're trying to fit in interviews for everybody, it's better a bit further along when they have one interview per episode. That leaves time for more training footage, special features etc.

I've never found it boring and I still don't!!!

Some shows are better for me than others but Claudia is always good fun and the more SCD on TV the better.

Oh yes completely - when I say more training footage, it's just a general requirement from me as I love watching them training so much! Not really criticising them for not having enough, although I agree with some posters above who were saying that it would be great to see Strictly Confidential back!

Humm. I don't think I'm transferring feelings. I don't like the change to having the Sunday show, but I don't feel all that strongly about it. It doesn't make my blood boil, or anything like that.

So I don't think it's affecting how I see other things.

But, thinking of tonight's (Tue's) show, in reverse order:

* Kate: interesting enough, and about something that viewers would want to know. But we didn't learn all that much. Missable.

* Alesha: Ok, but also missable. We didn't learn anything about her dancing, but it started to seem that her background gave her an unfair advantage.

* The Pearly whatevers: Comments from Cliché City and a pointless ventriloquist dummy. Annoying.

* Penny. She has long legs. Let's go on and on and on about that. Annoying and made me dislike Penny.

* The part that had the couples walking in seemed almost completely pointless, and I'm pretty tired of seeing the couples going into this or that by now. We get a version in the opening title sequence of each show, and that should be enough.

So it ranged from pointless, through missable, to annoying and dislike-generating.

I thought they were fantastic, and could easily watch them every week!

Already one Pearly King came up with 2 funny lines:

"We need a new set of Judges" and "They must be on the drink".

Their comments re the dancing were very good, I thought.

Either you're a big fan of the show and enjoy ITT or you don't. I guess if you're just a casual fan, you could miss it and not worry. Generally speaking, the posters on this forum are dedicated SCD fans and watch every episode of ITT.

I think it's been great, especially todays! And there has only been 2 so a little hard to judge. But I've enjoyed it all, even the couples walking in for the press bit. (Except the slightly crazy lady who was opening the door on the inside).

From reading your criticisms you can't be a very big fan of the programme originally.

The only change I've noticed is they have more couples on and that's because there are so many still in at the moment.

Wasn't the door opener hysterical? Like a hyper Victoria Wood. Think she wanted her little bit of fame - she didn't give the uniformed flunkies a chance to get their hands on the doors.

ITT is going through the phase of letting us get to know the couples more. I don't think it's ever brilliant at the beginning of the series but it'll settle down.

Personally I've loved both programmes so far. The more information about the dancers the better and I was interested to see the press conference from behind the scenes (apart from that crazy door opening lady who obviously wanted her own five minutes of fame lol).

Last year I managed to watch every single episode of ITT and will be doing the same again this year. Love Claudia - even if the programme's a bit weak with some turgid has-been trying to plug their latest record, book or whatever, Claudia still manages to make it fun.

Yeah, let's give it a chance. I agree there were some bits that were less interesting than others, but that's been true of all the shows, and I just love it. I got annoyed last year when they had twits on like Meatloaf, but then I have always hated Meatloaf and other people will like him, so each to their own. I think ITT is just 'setting the scene' at the moment and I'm sure it'll get a bit meatier as it goes on.

In an ideal world I would like to see ITT start the week before the main show.

That way, you could see the pre-show stuff in the correct context, and also the training footage of the first week. Now they've split the opening nights across 2 weeks, if you like, I think the ones who dance on the first week are at a bit of a disadvantage - because we are coming to them completely cold, whereas with those dancing next Saturday you've started to get to know a bit more about them.

Two nights in and already somebody is carping! Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, just a pity it has to be so negative.

Personally, I think it's great to see how the celebs and dancers met and having read about the press conference I was really pleased to get to see some of it on ITT.

Sometimes people find it boring because their fave dancer/celeb isn't on it but I got lucky last night. Ian and Penny, plus Ian in the press conference. Also thought Penny came across very well, long legs or not.

The first two shows have had a balance of clips and interviews plus no 'celebs' promoting their whatever -----long may it continue like this.

I record mostly everything I watch now (I've had my Sky+ box fixed at last yeah & no more failed recordings ).
I just FF all the dross now & that's not just ad's & intros. It's great on strictly cos I can cut out all the repetitive padding & what imo is boring, (pictures of the partners walking down the stairs every week, Tess "interviewing" the couples while they wait for their scores, the lets show you a clip of their dancing at the end & on the results show :yawn.
ITT was cut down to about 15 mins last night . I must admit I liked the bit with the first press conference, cos you have a butchers at how the couples reacted with each other in the beginning & compare that to how they appear get on now. Also you could see whether any seem to have got fitter & lost weight etc.
Personally I cannot stand Kate & her bloody tendonitis already, per-lease as if she can dance properly on Sat!!! I feel sorry for Anton tbh. So I fast forwarded all her bit .

I recorded the first night so I could fast forward the very Boring Karen and her oh so tedious manerisms. I really enjoyed last night, it was lovely seeing Mathew and Alisha, I think they will have some fun. I also like Ian but not too sure about Penny.

I have to say it is still early in the series and the competition is still packed. That is both a good and a bad thing. Good cos there is no need to drag celeb fans of SCD to flog their new book/series/dvd/cd/film/deperate need to get noticed. BUT bad cos it means there cannot be much footage of the couples cos sure as eggs is eggs someone is going to start moaning about this couple getting far more airtime than that couple.

ITT needs a couple of weeks to get going every series as it is.
