how do i get rid of a 2nd BT line
I moved into my new house about 4 months ago and had trouble getting my broadband up and running. BT had insisted that they had activated it. My house has 3 phone sockets, the master one downstairs, one in the main bedroom and one in the 3rd bedroom/study.
I originally plugged the router into the socket in the study which is the "2nd line", so it wouldnt work. I only found this out a few weeks later when i plugged my landline phone into this socket then rung my mobile from that phone and had a totally different phone number from the main line. Now i have to have an ethernet cable trailing across the landing from the main bedroom socket to the office. Anyway around this? Can BT deactivate this other line and set it up on my own line? Please help |

Altermatively, see if a local sparky can connect that 2nd line socket up as an extension from your main master socket. |

land line
A bit confused here before broadband you had one landline
and two extentions sockets .If thats the case then when you got the broadband they gave you another tel number which is a 471 number yes" then the master socket in your study is where the hub and filter is pluged in . then your other two sockets are the original tel number that you have and you can use them whenever but if you use the broadband number you can press 5 first if you want to use your original number or if you dont pree the 5 then you will be using your broadband number. But you must use it in the same way as a mobile you have to dial the whole number you can test it by dialing the whole number of your house number and it should ring .I have a wireless hub which I use all the time but I still have my landline for most of my incoming cals .Hope this makes sense to you . |
