Projectors

Hi, I'm new to this stuff and side of the forum really. I was wondering does anyone know much about projectors you can connect from tv and mainly pc. I most likely won't be able to afford one this year but curious as to which would be the best, cheapest and valued one to get for using with a computer.

My price range is from min to at a maximum of £500. Thanks.

I would suggest you look into the costs, and expected life, of the lamp - these are often in the £100's

If you can still find one, there were some good deals (ie: a bit under £500) going around on the InFocus IN72. It's not HD (480 lines from memory) but was very highly regarded at it's price point. Finding someone who still has stock may prove tricky though.

If you draw a blank with that, there's plenty other sub £500 models available, see here for one retailers list - you can pick out the ones to suit your budget from that little lot. Do a bit of research before you make a decision - many models are more suited to business applications rather than "cinema". Also, ensure it's going to have sufficient (and suitable) connections for your requirements.

Finally, resist the temptation to go for the cheapest of the cheap - I've seen some "portable" projectors in well known department stores for just £150 but they were bereft of adequate connections and the resolution was pitiful (240 lines).

Good luck!
