Ordered mine from the Dixons website 10 days ago. Showing on their website as out for delivery TODAY According to Curry's, for the foreseeable future only the top 50 stores in the country will have them and stores not having them will not be able to order them from other stores.

That's way OTT, to tar all employees of a major chain that way is a gross generalistion, and I'm frankly quite offended by the alzheimers reference

Anyway, I've had my Touch for a week now, and it's possibly the best consumer electronics device I've ever had the pleasure to use. Now trying to figure a way to automate downloading files, converting them to the relevant format and sync them with the Touch. Might have to learn AppleScript.

Purely my opinion of course but if it was "the best consumer electronics device" ever, I wouldn't expect to have to convert files.

But only a geek would be using a format the iPod doesn't support (it supports AAC, MP3 and WAV).

PC World arent that bad. My 30gig ipod video had a problem (was due to software, which apple fixed not long after the replacement), and because they had no black 30gig ones left, they gave me a 60gig version.

Such as DivX? WMA? Both very commonly used formats.

(Although I also have some OGG and FLAC stuff on my player as well but DivX is the entire iPod ranges BIG stumbling block for me.)

... and its dreadful.
.... care to substantiate that?

A well encoded WMA will sound just as good as a song thats well encoded using any other lossy format.

Well I was just talking about music. But you're better off using a better codec like h.264 for your video on the ipod anyway.
