Well not really bad but they are slightly down on last weeks ratings, as are all the zone channels:

Zone Horror = 985,000
Zone Reality = 1,079,000
Zone Reality+1 = 771,000
Zone Reality Extra = 640,000
Zone Romantica = 317,000
Zone Thriller = 426,000

If only virgin would carry it the ratings would go way up!

I am sky+ing all my old 'stories' from the States - Guiding Light, Days of our Lives & The Young & the Restless! Wish they would pick up All My Children & it would be perfect!!!

Blast from the past - that was MY FATHER'S favourite tv show - my mom was a Guiding Light person, but my dad came home for lunch every day and had to watch ATWT!! Fact is, I named my oldest son Ian cause of a character on there in the 70's.

What a silly response. ATWT is very brave for bringing in the storyline with Luke. I find it funny people say "this" on a soap is inappropriate, yet they are happy with the violence, shootings, kidnappings, Emily's ATWT rape scene was pretty heavy, some very risky bedroom scenes, women and men slapping and punching each other, and two guys kissing causes uproar. It says it all about some of the pathetic people who are happy watching this and their children watching this, but kick up a storm when two guys kiss. And this isnt a direct response to you, more to the situation in general.

Correct. These people are very selective about what 'they' want to see on a soap!

It is on no channel in the UK sadly. ATWT is more expensive to buy than Guiding light, hence the reason why we dont have it.

I take it you're not gay! You have to understand why this happens, it's not that gay = must see tv, its just gay people don't have a lot of tv fiction thay can relate to. Especially teens. The same happened with John-Paul and Craig in Hollyoaks. It's a couple gay people can root for and support, the way 100s of straight teenagers do. Shows like Hollyoaks, Skins, etc, all have characters and couples people can relate to, and each couple/character can sometimes generate their own following and fans. It's difficult for gay people to relate to them. Gay characters though, especially gay teen characters coming out, hit a nerve with most gay people, who can relate. When we're (gay people) younger we don't have the luxury or going out dating, chatting to mates about people we like, etc, and most of our feelings and confusion stays hidden. So any characters like Luke, Noah, John-Paul and Craig are welcomed, and will generate a gay following as these characters are few and far between. And I don't count characters like Sean from Corrie, or gay adult chatacters as this is another matter. Not trying to patronise you, just explain why this may happen.

What an excellent post! This is my feeling about gays in soapland. It is rare [esp..in US soaps] to see gays at all nevermind gay teens!

I too despise Sean in corrie as he is a stereotype that belongs in the 70s.

Thanks for the reply. I wasnt having a go at kreed, I just think some people dont understand why popular threads like "Is Craig Gay", "Corries Unhappy Father Todd...." and "ATWT Nuke" pop up and become so popular. Bazz on Hollyoaks was my all time fave gay soap character. Just looked, that was 10 years ago!!! How frightening
