Favourite lyrics thread.
What's your favourite lines from a song? Mine at this particular time are: Quote:
Mention the Lord of the rings just once more and I'll more than likely kill you, Moorcock, Moorcock, Michael Moorcock you fervently moan..
From Dickie Davies Eyes by Half Man Half Biscuit.

"I saw two shooting stars last night. I wished on them ...but they were only satellites. It's wrong to wish on space hardware, I wish, I wish you, I wish you cared."

Pretty much all of 'It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding' by Dylan, but I've always thought
"Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief, All kill their inspiration then sing about the grief" from The Fly by U2 was a very cool little couplet. |

"What a beautiful wedding says the bridesmaid to the waiter,
How desperate, what a shame, what a shame the poor grooms bride is a whore" From I write sins not tragedies by Panic! at the disco. By the way I have probably got the lyrics wrong, but i think they are generally what is said! |

The screen door slams
Mary's dress waves Like a vision she dances across the porch As the radio plays Roy Orbison singing for the lonely Hey that's me and I want you only Don't turn me home again I just can't face myself alone again Don't run back inside darling you know just what I'm here for So you're scared and you're thinking That maybe we ain't that young anymore Show a little faith, there's magic in the night You ain't a beauty, but hey you're alright Oh and that's alright with me Thunder Road - Springsteen The morning slips away - in a valium haze, And catalogues - and numerous cups of coffee. In the afternoon - the weekly food, Is put in bags - as you float off down the high street The shop windows reflect - play a nameless host, To a closet ghost - a picture of your fantasy - A victim of your misery - and Private Hell Private Hell - The Jam Cos years have passed and things have changed And i move anyway i wanna go! I'll never forget the feeling i got When i heard that you were home! An' I'll never forget the smile on my face 'Cos i knew where you would be! An' if you're in the Crown tonight, Have a drink on me, But go easy... Step lightly... Stay free... Stay Free - The Clash For now

"I Hope You Dance" (Lee Ann Womack)
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. You get your fill to eat, but always keep that hunger. May you never take one single breath for granted. God forbid love ever leave you empty handed. I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you dance-hope you dance I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance. Never settle for the path of least resistance. Livin' might mean takin' chances, but they're worth takin'. Lovin'might be a mistake but it's worth makin'. Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter. When you come close to sellin'out, reconsider. Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance. Dance, I hope you dance |

Psycho Realm - Order through chaos
Chaos serves as smoke repeated hoax to screen We lose control confused in the midst of staged scenes Media invented unrelented reports presented Often enough to make us think our world抯 tormented Sentenced by the momentous news of feuds we side and choose Use weapons and step in the trap we lose Pick up wars designed to scar and kill ours All because the broadcast flashed ghetto stars How much television you watch you tube whores? Keep score and wake up or they抣l do it some more Crazy times and wild headlines Document the city routine with hard rhymes Blinded street teams clash And push our message across the news flash Baldheads are sick minded And anyone who crosses the path is found dead Through TV set nonsense We sit and fit as the face of violence psycho realm - Stone Garden This is a time of pain Warzone for your own gain I roam the middle with the metal cause I'm insane Break frames... catch a smoking Is it gonna earn you a name? Did you get slain? Or fall victim to bald knuckle-heads and bad aim It ends all the same Every motha****er right here gotta jump on soul train Some go up, some go south Some get stuck in a realm with no way out Some get to hide, O.D. on drug hits, Dying in your sleep, that's the shit But lives get took violently On the streets of a lost city Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph Inspectah Deck.. I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics I inspect you, through the future see millenium Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function Heads by the score take flight incite a war Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block |

Quite a lot come to mind.
Don't know what my actual favourite is, I always hear lyrics on the radio and think wow, then five minutes later totally forget what song it was, I have such a bad memory. "Story of My life, Searching for the Right, But it keeps avoiding me. Sorrow in My Soul, cos it seems that Wrong, really loves my company" Rihanna-Unfaithful "I'm not Ready to Make nice, I'm not ready to back down, I'm still mad as hell and don't have time to go round and round and round. Its to late to make it right, probably wouldn't if I could, cos I'm mad as hell can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should." Dixie Chicks-Not Ready To Make Nice |

My friend played me this song on my birthday while we were driving to the pub for lunch. I loved the lyrics. It's by Plan B and it's called Charmaine if anyone wants to check it out
![]() The subject is quite shocking - especially the end line after listening to the words properly ![]()

I'm gonna get laughed at for this but:
"Slowly walking down the hall/faster than a cannonball" Champagne Supernova by Oasis. It was voted (I think) the worst lyric of all time, but I like this oxymoron. |

Some of my favourite lyrics: Quote:
Natalie Imbruglia - Lucas: And Lukas would say, For a million lonely people, Another lonely day, For a million hearts that open, A million break, And the world's just a fallen angel In my wake, High up in heaven you can hear them say, Looking for Lukas He is always running away Quote:
Leona Lewis - Alive I breathe, I hear, But I don’t believe it, My heart, it beats, But inside I’m freezing, My hands, they shake, They’ve lost all their feeling, Nowhere to take, You say that you’re leaving, And there’s no turning back this time, Gotta stay alive Quote:
Christina Aguilera - WooHoo
You know you really wanna (hey), Wanna taste my (woohoo), You know you wanna get a peak, Wanna see my (woohoo), You know you wanna put your lips, Where my hips are (woohoo), Kiss all my (woohoo), All over my (woohoo) No one said anything about fun lyrics

Of the songs I'm listening to at the moment, my favourite is probably; Sounds of Blackness - The Pressure Quote:
Playin' on the tension and your weakness are addictions that lure your mind astray Clicky You can fight it. You can win, for your deliverance, just bow your head and pray. To help you fight the pressure, the pressure, the pressure pressure of the world.
