Hollyoaks- I don't understand!!
Ok, I really don't understand this current Carbon Monoxide storyline, good as it is.
I understand the basics, like how CO poisoning actually works inside your body, and that it's a part of Natural Gas. But I don't really understand how boilers work. So, did Danny stuffing newspaper behind it cause the leak? And if so, how? And surely if there's flames inside the boiler, it means that the gas is being burned up. Or are there not meant to be flames inside a boiler? And another thing... Don't the gas companies put a scent into CO or at least the gas used in households to avoid that exact thing, so people can tell when there's a leak? ![]() cheers xxx |

I missed that bit today but the smell of gas as you know it is put into natural gas so you can smell it when it leaks, CO2 is odourless generally so thats why noone noticed.

It's a by product of gas being burnt. By stuffing paper at the back of the boiler he blocked off the flu so that the gas didn't burn properly and the CO built up in the flat. |

Her names Jess, the pliot light kept going off on the boiler so Jess told the rest of the students if they gave her £20 each she would get someone to fix it, she got Danny to fix it and gave him £50 and kept the rest of the money for herself.

What I don't get is surely in student accomodation it wouldn't be down to the students to fix the boiler as the landlord does stuff like this so why did anyone give her money in the first place.

Its a rather strange story, or at least they went a strange way about it - although Hollyoaks did it to highlight what can happen with pooly maintained equipment in student accomodation.
Afterall, its illegal to mess with a gas installation unless you are Corgi registered, and anyone who isnt and does a cowboy job like Danny is likely to make a mess of it |
