Whats the catch? (AOC HDTV)

I'm in the market for my 1st HD TV set, I did some browsing this morning and came across this 32" AOC HD ready TV.....but it's only £300.

The reviews seem very favourable. Has anyone taken a punt on one?

I think that's your answer.

3 things strike me as being 'the catch'

1. No digital tuner ... analogue only i.e. no Freeview without an additional box.
2. Only 1 HDMI connection.
3. Four pages of reviews where everyone gives it 5 stars in every category strikes me as a little suspicious.

I find it hard to believe as a review states that anyone anywhere found the ITV picture of the Rugby via satellite was acceptable on a CRT let alone a HD display of any sort

The simple truth is that even with the price crash of LCD especially in the 32" range you are sacrificing functions/performance compared to some higher priced units, alas the only real way to tell if the panels trade off is ok is to view it in the flesh, that said for the price do you really expect top notch quality?

I agree with the others posting here about you get what you pay for (often), but I don't understand your comment? Are you suggesting that the TV will only do 720p? I'm sure it will also handle 1080i.

If it says HD Ready? (and you shouldn't be considering it if it doesn't), then it will accept either, and scale either to fit it's screen resolution.

Generally cheap LCD's look pretty poor on SD, but on HD they still look pretty impressive.
