AS it is obvious that Anton will never be given a femme to match his ability, how about him replacing Bruce.

He has all of the attributes..Looks, charm, humour and youth.

I must be one of the few viewers who remember Bruce 50 years ago. He was fantastic in his days but is well over the top. I have also played golf with him and he is a sandbagger.......LOL

The Beeb should rest him while he is fondly remembered. He is making too many mistakes and cracking pathetic jokes that no one laughs at.

Bruce..we love you but take a well earned retirement with your beeeeeautiful wife.

While on the subject, replace Tess with Karen.....That is what I would call a matched pair (Anton and Karen!)

A great big NO thanks from me, the thought of Anton cracking even more pathetic jokes than Brucie doesn't bear thinking about, and the thought of Karen groping the celebs and pulling obscene faces every saturday night brings me out in a rash, If/when Brucie has had enough I hope they replace him with Graham Norton.

I agree that Anton would not be a good replacement for Bruce. Whilst I like him as a person, he has no real presenting experience and tends to ramble on and talk over the presenters (he does it often on ITT).

I agree that Graham Norton would do a good job presenting it.

Ha Ha, LOL.

I think he would be a good replacement, as soon as his barnet falls out, and he can wear a rug.

In a few more years he could be a good host. Graham Norton would be the kiss of death IMO.

Oh, not this one again.

Bruce doesn't need replacing.

After last week, with him forgetting that it was cha-cha-cha that Matt Di Angelo was dancing and he said waltz, plus the cringe-inducing 'reaction' of his after the women's dance, I think it's really time for Bruce to be part of the audience than a host.

No to Graham Norton or Anton Du Beke. None of them will cut it, actually...

Maybe John Borrowman might be more suited. Suave, debonair, and hopefully funny...

Yes, but if they replaced Bruce, everyone would have to find something else to whinge about. It's more economical this way...

Bruce commanded a LOT for his stint in SCD, I think... Maybe even more than the celebs taking part in the competition!

Patrick Kielty, any one?

*faints from the thought*

Oh my god, not another thread relating to replacing Bruce. This is getting so tedious. Hasn't anyone got anything better to talk about. There's too many threads going on about replacing Bruce, why can't people join these threads instead of starting up yet another one. Zzzzz.

Oh, and they're never going to replace Bruce. He's far too popular and the public love him - which is why the BBC still have him!

Exactly moonglow, the same reason the BBC keep having Westlife back year after year.
BTW John Borrowman would get a BIG thumbs up from me,

So... nothing!

I just wanted to say it's not economical in that sense. I just hope the cue cards won't tell Bruce do those lewd reactions again after the girls dance their rhumba this week...

I am sure they would be very disappointed to know you don't like them.

Am I the only person who thinks that the original poster's idea is an EXCELLENT one !!

Only downside is that Erin might end up finding herslf a new, more youthful dance partner.

PERFECT solution to all problems really:

Bruce is *defo* getting too old, too forgetful and too embarrasing for the presenting.

Anton is *perhaps* on the old side for being a lead male dancer (hence why he is forever paired on SCD with nearly all the mature ladies) ... he is old than all the other male dancers.

Erin is quite a bit younger than Anton + probably has more dancing years left in her, she might benefit from a new young partner.

P.S. I am saying this as an Anton fan, by the way !!!

I think Anton has the most lovely sense of humour + wd be a fantastic presenter.

ALSO .... it has been commented on several times (even by themselves) that Anton *does* look like Brucie's love child -- therefore surely Anton is Brucie's natural successor ?

Sharanski,

Anton and Bruce are really good friends, Anton thinks very highly of Bruce, if he saw this thread he would be very offended by people saying Bruce should be replaced. If you were a fan of Anton you should realise this.

Bruce is not too old and forgetful and embarassing. He fluffs his lines now and again, but then so do a lot of younger presenters. Stop using Bruce's age as an excuse to get rid of him. Its unfair and offensive.

I saw somewhere the suggestion that they were grooming Vernon to replace Bruce - the idea absolutely horrifies me.

To be fair, I think he did himself no favour when he tried to show how he was affected by the female celebs group dance. It was painful to watch, though I did like Bruce in SCD4.

I do think however, that BBC should let Bruce ad-lib more. He's good at that.

Edit to add: I remembered seeing Vernon presenting the Elvis freak show after the SCD preview a couple of Saturdays ago and he didn't improve in his so-called presenting. Very crass...
