Help Please - Bricked Digihome PVR
Freeview_Viewer
12-10-2007
I got a brand new Digihome Twin Tuner Freeview PVR a few hours ago from Argos and decided to try and update the firmware so it wasnt twin record. I did every step in the readme file and it transfers. When it says what version I have on Hyper Terminal, it says none.

Can anyone help please?
Its not switching on, it just says "STARTING" on the box itself...

Hi Freeview_Viewer,
If I've understood your post correctly, I think you've tried to update a T816 box with the T810 firmware? (That would be the V4.9 that comes as part of the twin record download?)
If this is the case, then all (!) you have to do is to re-install a T816 firmware - I think there may be a link on this forum.

Sorry F_V, when I went looking I couldn't find the link directly - however, Nutty_Timbo has helped someone else in the past. Please see this thread:-

I'm sure if you PM'd him, he would be happy to forward the relevant file on to you. Good luck.

Why don't you just return it back to argos and get a replacement unit?

Would you take a new PC back to the shop if you'd decided to to install Windows XP on it, because you didn't like Windows Vista, only to find it won't boot anymore? Would the shop replace it with a brand new PC? Taking the PVR back to Argos in the case is fraudulent IMO.

To the OP: uploading T816 software to the box should indeed revive it (I've recovered from trying T810 software on a T816, and vice versa, by uploading compatible software again, with no ill effects ). Why on earth did you want to downgrade the box to single record . Anyway, you'll be pleased to know that you haven't killed it.

Please can you send me a copy of the T816 firmware if you have it. Thanks

Hi Again,
I found a link on another forum which I think is to the basic T816 firmware - but *please* be aware that this is unconfirmed - the file header says "SlipknotT816UK001" and the file can be found at :- h**p://rapidshare.com/files/55099654/T816.bin.htm
Please bear in mind that using this file is at your own risk - I can't confirm whether or not it is the correct firmware, as I do not have a T816. You may prefer to try an alternative method to obtain the correct firmware.
Anyway, good luck.

Hi.

I'm the said 'Nutty Timbo'. If you wish for T816 Firmware, I have Versions 2.4, and (what is now thought to be an interim version) 4.3 direct from Vestel-uk. PM me if you wish for them to be emailed to you to recover your box!.

If you have found a 'generic' T816 bin file elsewhere on the web (I have just seen a link to one in one of the new threads on this forum), I should beware, as not only does it not state what the firmware version is, it doesn't specify if it is intended for the UK.

PS. Those I should be returning messages to, please, please forgive me for the delay in response (I have not been up to my best again! - Sorry!). I am extremely grateful for correspondance received.

Kind regardes to all.
