Yep I agree, that's probably what will happen. I think it's not unreasonable to expect an e-mail apology and the final three episodes to be shown in one block from 9pm-12am next Thursday. Then at least they are righting the wrong to a certain extent, and those who were fortunate enough to miss last week's debacle can still see the final. I don't see it happening though.

Has anyone actually got a reponse from UKTV yet? I didn't even get an automated response which is almost expected these days.

Does anyone know how we can contact them directly rather than via email?

Or there is a phone number, but that states it is for information on UKTV's programming. I'm not entirely sure a complaint falls into that categroty, but the number is - 0845 734 4355.

I rang that number, and they told me it was a programming error but were unable to tell me how they were going to rectify it. He then gave me another number but the person in question is out of the office till Monday (how bloody convenient! ).

Because she's on TV so much I thought that Saira won...thanks to Dave's cock-up I know the result before I've seen all the episodes

Dave's poor cutting in of the adverts breaks is pissing me off too. I'm sure that last night Paul said "F" advert break "UCK" when he had the argument with Saira

The announcer said after Top Gear at 6pm "Catch the final of series 1 of the Apprentice tonight at 9 on Dave" which I thought was odd at the time as it wasn't due to be until next week.

Phew found this thread and am glad it wasn't just us! Totally spoilt it for us - I knew who won, but not how or why - from what I have seen so far, I don't really understand why either. I assumed s/he (don't want to spoil it just in case someone hasn't seen it) would do something fabulous in the last few weeks and now I've missed it. Grrrrrrr

Anyway, thanks for the complaint link. Have sent the following:

What on earth happened with the Apprentice last night (13/12/07)? We were happily watching week 9, expecting week 10 to come on as part 2 of the double bill, but got week 12 instead - the final! This has totally ruined the series for us and I would like a full explanation of the reasoning behind it - including why the finale was apparently announced earlier in the evening so it can't have been a simple error. And don't use Christmas as an excuse either - it's not like you didn't know it was happening!

So, are they going to show the missing two next week? I notice the Freeview EPG is mucked up on Dave next Thursday with overlapping programmes and it would appear there are 3 episodes being shown - the two missing then the final (again!)? I really want to see the shopping channel one - a classic.

Also on the Spurs episode did they cut when one of the teams got a customer complaint, or am I getting mixed up with a similar task in another series?

The Sky EPG and radiotimes.com currently only list two episodes next Thursday - 9pm (Interviews) & 10pm (Finale). I can't seem to get past midnight on Wednesday on the Freeview EPG at the minute.

Quite possibly. Remember they have to make cuts here and there to make the show fit in an hour slot with adverts.

No response from Dave yet..... suppose I should give them some leeway seeing as it's the weekend!!

If they only have the rights to show the final twice, it won't be shown next week as well because they show it on Dave+1 too.

In most cases channels are allowed to show programmes any number of times within a 24 hour period, so showings on +1's don't count as another 'play'. The only example I can think of that goes against this are ITV2+1 and ITV3+1, hence their periodic, 'legal reasons' captions.

I was wondering that - but can't remember if the compliant was on the show or the discussion show afterwards ? I do remember a parent being very annoyed that a child had been registered for a subscription text service without being informed of the ongoing costs that entails.

Dave will be showing all 3 episodes from 9pm this Thursday:

Quote:
“You know, even Dave is human. Sort of. The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that the final episode of The Apprentice Series 1 was shown at 10pm on Thursday 13th Dec. Whoops. Should have been Episode 10, of course.

Apologies to everyone for the confusion caused. To make amends we're re-jigging the line-up for next week and showing episodes 10, 11 and 12 back-to-back from 9pm. As if by magic, Tim, Saira, Miriam, James and Paul will be back in the firing line with a tricky TV task and the gruelling interviews ahead.”

You're Fired only started in Series 2 according to Wiki, so it must have been one of the cuts to fit the timeslot. Shame.

Although I'm still annoyed at what happened, credit to UKTV for trying to make amends. I suggested earlier in the thread they should have a three-hour block, but wasn't convinced they would, so good on them for actually doing it to keep everyone happy.

I'll be watching the much vaunted TV shopping channel task, and the interviews. Doesn't seem much point in bothering watching the final again, but at least we get to see the missing episodes, which is the important part.

And at least they have puts their hands up and said sorry, we cocked up and here's how we'll make it up to you! I don't imagine some other channels would bother...!

Yes, the finale's been spoilt but at least now we'll see how they got there!

The "missing episode" is now being shown this Thursday 20/12/07 @ 21.00 followed by the final two episodes @ 22.00 & 23.00

The Sky schedules don't appear to have been updated yet, but I've been told this personally by someone @ Dave.

I was impressed with the speed of response to my phone call which was about 30 mins from start to response today.

I am now in receipt of an e-mail response from UKTV, apologising for last Thursday's cock-up, and explaining about the three episodes back-to-back this Thursday. They did mess up, but it's really good to see them being pro-active in trying to make amends.

Thumbs up UKTV!

Yep, same here. got an e-mail at about the same time4. Credit where credits due, as someone else rightly said, a lot of other channels would have just brushed it off.

What a great episode that was!

There were so many good parts. Tim & Paul thinking they got one over on Saira and coming completely unstuck in the end. They seemed to be so wrapped up in how clever they had been, to realise that Saira had actually walked away with a few decent items that helped win it for her and James in the end. Speaking of whom, James and Saira’s joint reaction to the wolf coat was absolutely hilarious. At first it raised a smile, but as laughter got the better of them, you couldn’t help but laugh along with them.

At the TV studio, Miriam was extremely good at presenting, but seemed to allow Tim & Paul a little too much lee-way, and perhaps wasn’t as clear-cut as she needed to be. As stated in the boardroom, Tim & Paul didn’t really do that much. Saira on the other hand bellowing at James actually worked well. Although, all credit to him, I might have shouted something back, as she did get a bit carried away.

When it was revealed that Impact had lost the task, I honestly thought Paul would go. I know Miriam’s track record wasn’t exceptionally great (putting it next to Tim’s or Saira’s for example), but Paul’s attitude seems to make Sir Alan a little uneasy, and given his minimum productive input in this task, I though Sir Alan might have taken his opportunity to send him on his way.

Still though, a great episode, that I really enjoyed watching.

Quick question for those that know. With no spoilers, does series 2 have an Ideal World TV channel task?
The Unknown One
20-12-2007
Not the greatest of episodes to be honest. Having seen the interview episode in this series and the third series, I do wonder why they don’t just drop it altogether. Sir Alan may want to see how the candidates go through this kind of task, and see what information comes from it. But from a viewer’s perspective it doesn’t make great TV. If I’m being honest, I found myself drifting back to DS and just having it on in the background. Never mind though, at least I now know have the final 5 become 4, and them become the final 2.

I’m not going to bother watching the finale, having seen it last week. I’ll just pop my comments into spoiler tags just in case someone is planning on watching the finale for the first time.

Spoiler
To be honest, I found the river boat task a little bit samey to some of the earlier tasks. Organising an event, and getting guests to come – like the art task. Sourcing food and drink – like the market stall task. The finale task in series 3 – the hypothetical skyscraper was much more interesting. As I’ve said previously, I knew all along that Tim won the series, and it must have been a hard decision, as Saira was a strong candidate. Perhaps Tim was the best choice given he was more of an all-rounder, rather than Saira who was a lot better than him at certain things like selling, but weaker in other areas. A devcent episode, but I don;t think I enjoyed it as much as the finale from series 3.

Overall it’s been a good series, that I’ve enjoyed watching. Despite their somewhat suspect editing, I hope Dave plan on showing the second series in the New Year.

Yep...lets big it up for Dave. They really turned this one round in record time

Really enjoyed the Shopping Channel episode...the guys in front of the camera (more professional than those on series 2) were excellent whereas those behind the mike were hilarious
