What to buy

We need to replace our ageing VCR, and want to buy a DVD Recorder for under a £100. We already have 2 DVD players that will play disks copied onto DVD-R disks, as well as commercially recorded disks. This is where I start to get totally confused because most of the tech spec I have seen refers to DVD+R and DVD+RW. So, what I am looking for is a DVD Recorder that will take either format or at least enable DVD-R playback. Here is where I show complete ignorance by asking `Does a DVD Recorder also double as a DVD Player` Any help on clarifying the technicalities and suggestions on DVD Recorders would be gratefully received

this should do the trick HOWEVER if I was you I would be looking for s dvd recorder with freeview tuner and a hard drive, then you probally wont need to record to disc

If you're looking at timeshifting TV rather than recording to keep then you need a PVR rather than a DVD recorder, they are far far more convenient. (I'm assuming you can get Freeview or Sky).
