No. But then I now know the result which was a travesty. Letitia should have gone if it wasn't Kate.

23-0 unanimous votes for Kate to go, but Kate stayed, taking the job from Stephanie. Even given the unscientific basis of this miniscule sample I struggle to explain the disparity of voting. The best explanation I can come up with is as follows. Only Kate, Stephanie, and Letitia were in danger of elimination, the others had sufficient core supporters to be safe.

Many of our 23 polled replies were strongly against Kate, and keenly aware of the risk from sympathy votes leading to an unjust result. But few thought through to the tactical voting necessary to prevent this outcome, i.e. it would not help to vote for Kelly and Aleisha, it would help to vote for Stephanie and Laetitia.

There is a fundamental flaw in the BBC voting system. A controversial candidate like Kate arouses strong reactions --those in favour have a channel of voting their support, but those strongly against Kate have no direct way of expressing same. I propose additional phonelines to be opened. All in favour of candidate A to ring a number, all against to ring a different number. The NETT sum of votes for, minus votes against, to constitute the popular vote -- more accurately representing true public opinion.

Had such a "nett voting" system been in operation last night, I believe "NO" votes for Kate would have swamped "YES" votes by a tsunami.

There is something analogous between phone voting and the fate of this thread. Like Kate or Stephanie, unless a thread is controversial it will fall through the bottom out of existence.

So if you support this vote reform proposal and would like to contact the following before this evening:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/feedback/?ref=/...lycomedancing/

If you have other solutions please say so. Best of all, please vote on this reform proposal -- yes or no.

Thanks to all.

No, I've never liked her anyway, I have always disliked her agressive interviewing technique ~ the way she constantly interupts people is so rude.
When Arlene had a go last night I was gobsmacked with how quite Kate was, yes she's injured but she didn't have to dance.

No I would not vote to keep her in. I might vote to keep Anton in though, but Kate, lovely as she is, needs to be out of the competition for her own health's sake.

I really think it's a shame they don't just replace someone when this happens, because it's not fair on the professional is it? I can understand it would be difficult later on in the series, but right at the beginning it shouldn't be a problem. They didn't replace Jimmy Tarbuck last year though did they? Just let the poor professional dancer suffer the result!
