Cover Versions You Wouldn't Expect To Hear!
I know there is a thread floating around somewhere about our favourite cover versions but what about those covers that make you go
WTF! Ifound this one by accident whilst trawling youtube and have to say it works exceptionally well. Sinead's voice is so fragile and suits the lyric beautifully even if the song may be a litle simplistic.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8oqKyVW978 Anyone else got anymore to recommend? |

I mentioned this one before on another thread, but Sandie Shaw's Sympathy for the Devil is a belter!
I heard it on a Mojo comp a few months ago.

Checkout The Punkgroup : Me first & the Gimme Gimmes, they have done loads of covers that you wouldn't expect to happen
Lionel Richies - Hello Boys 2 Men - End of the road The Proclaimers - 500 miles They have done loads more all in punk style & sound pretty good. I still can't get to grips with Amy Winehouse's version of Valarie |

That makes 2 of us!
![]() I can't stand the "busyness" of the original, and the way that the drummer overplays and can't seem to keep a constant speed. Why does he slow right down before the chorus? Amy's version does away with all the unnecessary twiddly bits and cracks along at a nice quick pace. |

Hanson covered Christina Aguilera's Dirrty on one of their tours, you wouldn't expect that! It was pretty awesome

I think Amy's version is massively better than the original. It's got a much better feel to it.

I can't believe how bad it is, it is dreadful. Would help if she didn't whine and could actually hold a note. She really has ruined a fairly good song. |

Tori Amos performing Slayers - Reign in Blood The video is terrible quality and only includes the first verse, unfortunately I can't find a better one. |

It's been on this site for a while, but to be honest I couldn't believe it when I first saw this... Nouvelle Vague always put an interesting spin on songs, but I never thought I'd hear a cover version of Relax like this...
