Arlene and Craig at least have been consistent, and although they make personal comments, their scoring is usually fair.”

I'm rather ambivalent about Brendan so I don't really share that view. I think he just irritates Len with his wanna be celebrity and playing the 'bad boy'. Len wants to see some 'proper' dancing and I'd agree with him that Brendan sometimes tries tricks and gimmicks to win which don't come under this category.

Bruno's off his damn rocker and I find it hard to take him seriously at all so that's probably why he doesn't bother me.

Craig is pretty decent most of the time now he's stopped the pantomime villain act. He's usually harsh but fair.

Arlene is just vile - I didn't doubt that he was good but her 'I lose all perspective when I watch you dance' comment to Mark last year REALLY pissed me off. She's supposed to be an objective judge not a horny teenager. If you can't keep perspective then clear off and let someone else who doesn't score with their hormones judge.

All the judges have their moments but she is the worst repeat offender to me.

Maybe he thinks she looks like might make a good hooker?

I agree with you about Brendan doing silly things which annoy the judges, but last year Len and Bruno kept up their objections throughout every show. After being criticised and penalised for illegal lifts that should have been that. Only one dance was affected. Len and Bruno continued their venum till the end. Very unprofessional. At least Craig and Arlene didn't do that.

I think they have their clear favourites and the rest are hung out to dry. Even though she wasn't my favourite I thought the treatment of Carol Smiley last year was shocking. Why the woman didn't tell them all to just "sod off" was beyond me, especially when Emma Bunton was making just as many mistakes yet given higher marks. I'll never forget Bruno admitting that he gave Emma a 9 just to save her from being in the bottom two!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I have been a fan of SCD from the first programme and I still love the dancing and the sparkle & glitz. I never watch any other RTV because it is kinda tacky/trashy. SCD is not quite as tacky, but last year & this year it has travelled further down the path to tackville.
More controversy = More votes. Duh!
The celebs cannot be dumb enough (at least by this season) not to know what to expect. It's probably in their contracts. Plus, they must realise that the more vile the judges are, the more the public like them.
Really hate being paranoid, but it really is a PLOT.

Also, critisize DWTS all you want, but you will note that they don't play that controversy card quite so much, or at least it's done in a different way - ala Sabrina being a dance teacher. Judges are OTT with praise and scores, a bit sickly really.

The middle of the road path which is the least likely to be taken, is not lucrative for the commercial DWTS or for the charitable SCD. The bottom line is the companies will go for the lowest common denominator to ensure revenue. Their thinking: Controversy works & if it anin't broke etc etc.

They all have their moments of nastiness. Len was particularly unpleasant when comparing "manly" Darren and "girly" Colin in Series 3. But what particularly annoys me is that most of the comments are obviously rehearsed and often bear litle relation to the actual performances.
I have often heard Arlene say nice things about Anton, but she seems incapable of saying them to his face. Perhaps he rejected her once!

I suspect they watch the dress rehearsal footage and compare notes before the show and script accordingly.

I like Len but I remember he was out of order with that comparison

Arlene should really move on, she --more than any of the other judges, judges the females in a totally unfair way-I can't get over her scoring of Alesha and Kelly yesterday, it is obvious that she is rooting for Kelly and IMO Alesha danced far better.

The scoring is so off the wall sometimes, it makes me want to scream at the TV, then Arlene gave another female contestant a crap score for a really good performance. I think she votes out of lust or jealousy!
