Is the thread title now clear enough? Anyone still not got the general principle?

I cannot believe some people are STILL going into non spoiler threads and posting things that even hint at the result. They are either being completely foolish or complete kn*bs.

It's very simple:

- Not everyone wants to know what happened before the results show

- Just because you don't write 'so and so went out!' does not mean you haven't posted a spoiler. Going into a pros thread and posting 'so sad' makes it pretty bloody obvious what has happened.

- Don't mention the slightest hint of what happened in the results show before it is shown unless the thread has 'spoilers!' written in the title.

I've asked the mods if they can sticky the DS Spoiler policy as a thread at the top of this page. If you haven't seen it it is at the top of the Cult forum.

Please people, have a bit of thought before you post. You are ruining the show for some people.

I was treading warily through the threads this morning, to see what people were saying about the dancing - and there it was. The result. In a place I really hadn't expected to see it.

Could have kicked myself for thinking I could have avoided it. From next week, I'll be out of all forums until after the results show. But it's so difficult when you want to be a part of the SCD community.

Right, thanks for that I've managed to avoid it so far, but I think I'll just depart from this forum until Monday now, although I suspect who'll go, I'd rather sit back and find out tonight

Exactly and that's incredibly unfair. I want to know the spoilers but I fully understand there are plenty who don't and so wouldn't even hint at them outside a spoiler thread. I know if someone spoiled a TV show for me that I didn't want to be spoiled for I would just gut them.

Some people are either really selfish or really stupid.

We should be able to safely discuss last night's show on here to fill in the gap whilst we're waiting for tonight. Instead half the forum feels the need to stay away because of a few thoughtless individuals.

I managed to avoid finding out the result last week due to staying out of more or less every thread after I read a thread complaining that people were discussing the result all over the forum, so will be doing the same this week. It's bad enough having to wait until Sunday for the results show as it is without it being a total anti climax because I've already found out who's gone. Let's hope none of the Sunday papers have it in them otherwise I'm going to have to avoid reading those until Sunday evenings too.

Why can't the BBC see that the Sunday results show is a really stupid idea.

By the way, just as a warning. Don't go into the "End of strictly as BBC.... " thread. There is a spoiler with regards to the bottom couples.

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments of this thread (I already agreed last week). This is definitely rubbish.

I don't know why people have to do this. Not very nice of them and it is very selfish. If people HAVE to discuss the results, why can't they just stay on the one thread OR PM people they know won't mind?

Bull.

I watch plenty of shows in the US that are later shown over here. I don't go into threads and tell everyone what has happened and say 'well it's your fault for not downloading it!' or 'it's the channel's fault for not showing it over here yet!'. For years people have managed to have enough restraint not to tell others what has happened so I don't see why it should be any different on here.

Just because the Beeb have made an odd decision doesn't give anyone the okay to act like a moron and purposely ruin it further for others.

This is exactly what I came on here to say! BLAME THE FAKERY OF THE BBC - They're taking us for mugs and insulting our intelligence. They should be ashamed of themselves. I have signed the petition!

People aren't posting the result maliciously - once the result is 'out there' (which is inevitable - once its happened in real time, its there for the taking) people are wanting to comment on it, which is understandable.

I made a conscious effort not to 'leak' the result, but I very nearly slipped up, so its not that easy. What would make it watertight would be if the results didn't actually happen until the 'Results Show' tonight. WHAT a peculiar idea

There is a little legal phrase called "Public Domain".

As soon as the results are counted and announced to the audience on Saturday, they become "Public Domain" and no amount of hissy fits and boo hooing will change that.

The ONLY ANSWER is for a live (Saturday Night) show...GET REAL.

Forum planet.

Seriously, go into the Cult thread and post a spoiler for Lost or Heroes in the wrong place and see how long you last. Nice knowing you....

There are these little things called common courtesy and consideration for others that you may have heard of. I basically boils down to not being an utter tw*t.

I don't think it's a case of legality. Nobody is saying it's illegal.

It's just a case of bad manners to deliberately ruin someone else's enjoyment.

And WHAT'S WITH all the CAPITAL LETTERS and BOLD, UNDERLINED FONT?

Personally i think there needs to be a little understanding and agreement here and then we could all be happy (hopefully).

There should be a comple of threads set up for the "results" ie one for discussion before the results as that seems quite popular, one with the result and possibly one for the aftermath discussion. These threads only are to be used until after sunday nights show anyone posting on any of the "fan based threads" etc. either revealing the result or "so sad, unfair" etc whicxh is as good as saying who has gone will be banned immediately.

I want to know the result - which is why i always watched on a saturday last year for the show & result on the same night but we are going over old ground again and the BBC wont change it back now- but I FULLY appreciate that others don't and I really feel for them that they can't enjoy coming here until sunday because they may discover who is out. However I also dont want a minority to ruin it and result in DS not allowing the result to be posted

Phew! sorry for the long winded way of putting things..hope it made sense

But we have to make the best out of a bad situation. I find it very hard to think that the BBC are going to reschedule it as they have filled up their Saturday evening. Hence I think that some people have to stop being childish and just except the fact that this is how its going to be. Yes everyone has the right to complain (I have myself), but now we should move on. As a lover of SCD I don't wan't my enjoyment of it to be further ruined, so now we should just end all of our moaning and enjoy the show. After all didn't last night show that the competition is going to be fierce and ir looks like we are in for a very good series. Please lets not ruin that.

I followed the link from another thread and posted an official complaint to BBC about the results show and asked for a response.
Maybe everyone needs to do this - it only takes a few minutes.

It's not a BBC issue though - it's really more a forum ettiquette thing...You just have to double check yourself when posting on a Sat night/Sun morning. That way those who do and those who don't want to know can all have their fun!

I quite agree, Claire.

I visit a few forums (not just DS), and it's common forum courtesy not to mention spoilers for TV programmes unless they're in a dedicated thread, as people on there are aware that there are others who haven't seen the programme yet and may not wish to know what has happened (this is especially true in certain American ones, as there are different time zones over there).

And I have seen the furore that ensues when some thoughtless (usually new) person has (rarely, I have to admit, because 99.9% of people abide by the 'common courtesy rule') mistakenly released information in the wrong thread. It does not make for nice reading!

It's true that the result is in the public domain and it's also true that people would wish to discuss the result.

Which is why there should be a dedicated spoiler thread specifically for this purpose and why they should refrain from mentioning it in other threads.

It's a shame that common courtesy and consideration for others seems like a dirty or outdated concept in today's society. But it is. And that says a lot about the human race - sadly, it says something not very nice.
