Rumba v Quickstep
Just wondering if it is fair to judge the dancers on completely different styles.
If all the girls had been doing either dance wouldn't it be fairer to decide the bottom two ?? Would have looked to see everyone doing the quickstep, I think the Rumba favoured Kelly and Aleisha. And the Rumba would have been easier on Kate's legs !! |

The QS is definitely the easier of the two dances imo, although none should be considered easy as such.
The rumba is hard to pull off and not as flashing and viewer pleasing as the QS. I honestly think those doing the rumba were at a disadvantage although on the bright side at least they've got it out of the way now when the judges expectations are slightly lower and the competition isn't as tight. |

It will be interesting to see if Kelly/Aleesha can do dances like the foxtrot and QS as well as the sexier dances - please note, this is NOT Kelly bashing -it is clear however that she knows how to use her sex appeal from photoshoots etc and that helped her in the Ruba tremendously! |

I know its a stretch to refer to Willie Thorne as a boy! ![]() ![]() The tango and the jive are good for the contestants though (and hopefully us viewers). They're two dances people generally seem to do well at. |

I wonder if Penny is doing the jive and how her 'long limbedness' (as CRH puts it) will work with that. Id also like to see Kelly jiving so I can evaluate (listen to me, as if Im Len!
) her in a non sexual dance, as the Tango is smouldering and quite suited to her.

I love Jive and Tango week! I actually think the celebs doing the Tango have the easier job as it is very difficult to jive alongside a professional and match their energy!
![]() Im already thinking about the following week! Is it traditionally Foxtrot and Paso or foxtrot and Samba? ![]() Ive got to get off this forum and tidy my house. Its seriously a midden.

Rumba v Quickstep
As a beginner, I find the rumba so much easier to dance than the quickstep, which I find so difficult I could cry! I LOVED Stephanie's quickstep last night - and she looked fabulous. If I could look a fraction as good as she does, I'd be very, very happy!

If only!
If only I could DO the quickstep though!
I haven't even mastered the basics and the front lock step, but my teachers have been teaching us something called the "scoop and twinkle".

The rumba is my favourite dance when done by professionals, as it is just so beautiful and touching.
But it is a hard dance and their have been very few good ones in strictly. Mainly because it's done quite early in the competition where it is awkward to be so intimate with a virtual stranger. That's why I was so impressed with Alesha and Matts (particularly) as their chemistry and connection was wonderful. Quickstep is also hard (mainly stamina wise) but it is perhaps the most crowd pleasing of the ballroom dances, so in that respect it is easier to pull off. |
