Are ALL 4 judges happy with new format?

I only say this as there was quite a revealing moment after the dance off, where Bruce was explaining how the new system works with the judges. When Bruce mentioned that in case of a tie Len has the overiding vote, the camera shot to Len and he was pulling a face as if to say he wasn't sure and was uncomfortable with the idea of having the final vote. Did anyone else pick up on this or is it just my imagination?

I definitely know Craig and Arlene are into this new system, not so sure about Bruno as he hasn't been interviewed and asked about it yet. But I hope Len wanted to have the deciding vote and wasn't bulldozed into the position by the BBC.

He's head judge, so its kind of trivial.

He did pull a bit of a face, but it was only a bit of faux modesty I think.

I'm sure all 4 judges love having a bit of power, but speculating either way is irrelevant really, as they will have had and will continue to have no say one way or other as to whether its the public or the judges that decide.

Yes, I did saw Len quiver a little.

Der Chef says

Well I would not imagine Len is if he ever pulls his casting vote he will be public enemy number 1

Ohh Yeah

I am not really understanding what Len having the final vote means - tonight Bruce said, before Len had even cast his vote, that Len had the deciding vote.

I was on the understanding that if the voting was tied then Len would have the final say but BOTH results shows Bruce has actually said that Len has the deciding vote before he has said anything

Does that mean that whoever Len votes for stays, regardless of what the other 3 say?

Basically if the judges are split 2-1 before Len votes then it is Len who essentially decides - he either makes it 3-1 or 2-2 and his vote is the only one that counts.

The only way he doesn't have the final say is if Craig, Arlene and Bruno all agree.

thank you claire2281 - so he doesnt get the final say even if its 3 against 1 - I was under the impression that he would

Thank you for clearing that up

If Len always had the final say, there'd be no point in any of the other judges voting, would there?

As it is, I think Len has too much power - that's why the voting order is done Craig-Arlene-Bruno-Len, to preserve the element of suspense.

Obviously, "casting vote" means he has two votes in effect. And because he votes last, I can't see him voting "A" if all the other three judges voting "B" - he'd probably just vote "A" to make it unanimous.

I'd have preferred another round of scoring instead of a "A or B" choice. That would both give us a sense of how well the couples had improved, and greatly reduce the possibility of a tie-break. Len could still have a casting vote, but he'd be much less likely to use it.

As for his grimace-thing, that was clearly just a "mug up a bit for the telly, dear" moment. I'm sure he's very happy with the extra power

Do you not think it was the judges that wanted the new format then?
