I thought Gabby and James were the best couple and she can go all the way to the final. She may not be the publics favourite, but what is good this year is that if she is in the bottom 2, hopefully the judges will keep her in the competition on her dancing ability.

I didn't notice her being particularly bad tempered about the judges' comments. I felt she was a bit annoyed with herself but next week she will do better. She is a new personality to me, mind you so are most of them, I don't watch a lot of TV so whenever there are celebrity reality shows, I hardly know any of them.

I think that Gabby seems like she's a good dancer and will do well on that front, but I think that her strong competitiveness and seemingly lack of humour is making her come across as a bit cold which won't endear her to the public and in reality competitions like this is not just ability that gets the votes it's likeability too.

A lot will depend also on how she's edited in the VT's. At the moment I feel she's coming over a bit School Marmish the way she is shown bossing James around. They are making it out that she wears the trousers both in the training room and in her marriage.

No bad thing for James as he wasn't very nice last year to his partner. I am not keen on him (though I love to watch him dance), but am warming to him a bit this year.

Gaby is alright. I can't see her winning but think she will do very well. I sense that as long as she feels she has done the very best she can, she will be satisfied.

Did anyone see Kelly Holmes being interviewed recently? Can't remember the show wasn't really paying that much attention at the time. When she was on DOI remember how she got really slagged by one of the judges & wasn't popluar with public, (another competitive woman) and got lower scores than she maybe deserved/wanted? Well, in that interview, reference was made to that situation, and she said something along the lines that she hadn't really understood what was expected of her and had reacted too competitively. She has since learned that it was assumed that she would know she was gonna be the target. I know thats not her words etc but it is the gyst.
Maybe Gabby needs to speak to Kelly for advice.

Poor Kelly actually got personally insulted by one judge in particular (infact I stopped watching DOI after that) - no one should have to take that - Gabby whilst being undermarked was not insulted and she got constructive comments which is why I could not understand her huge disappointment - she is a good dancer and has potential

But good luck to her for Saturday (love ya James cannot wait to see their tango

Oh a competitive woman who shows it - not something the GBP take to kindly. We far prefer a bit of a bumbling duffer with a nice smile who doesn't take themselves too seriously. [Not naming any names]

Desire to win is just about acceptable in a man but never in a woman but did you ever wonder how those women dancers on the programme actually became champions? It wasn't by just smiling sweetly if they lost - it was by gritting their teeth, working harder and making sure they won the next time.

Yes I will, they did the quickstep didn't they? Not the rumba.

I wonder - who was 'the source' and were they in the dressing room when Gaby was having 'talks' with her mum?

Good point.
IF it was Gabby or one of yer family they were a bit naive (at the least).
IF it was one of the other competitors, a bit low really.

Of course, considering the Sun, aren't they tabloid?

Or did they just make it up?

I'd say it was made up...considering they couldn't even get Arlene commenting on the dance correct (rhumba?)...Gabby's mum was in the audience so two and two makes....?

It's funny how different people view the celebs' attitude. I have no problem whatsoever with someone being competitive. In fact, I prefer it as I think it's honest. I admire Gabby for taking it seriously and working as hard as she can.

What I dislike is the "it's so hard", "I'm rubbish", "I haven't had any time in my busy schedule" moaners that we've had on previous series. Especially when they are actually rather good.

All our celebs are professionals in their own field who have got to where they are by hard work and determination. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I like Gabby as a presenter - especially her radio shows on 5 Live. She comes across as knowledgeable, witty and funny and seems to have a good rapport and a good laugh with her interviewees.
I wonder if this warmth and wit would be more apparent in SCD had she been partnered with someone like Matthew Cutler or Vincent (notwithstanding height difference!), rather than James Jordan who doesn't really put the fun into funky.

Having seen her quickstep, I really hope she stays in for a long time, and I think the new judging system will help her. Even if she's in the bottom too I think the judges would save her against anyone except Aleesha, Penny or Kelly. But I would like her to lighten up a bit, so that she can be voted for by the public, rather than saved by the judges.

I agree completely - there are loads of viewers who vote for 'their favourite' rather than for the best performer, which I know is't the point of the exercise, but it's what happens every time.

There's something about Gabby that isn't likeable - plus she must have an advantage, having been a gymnast for all those years - fitness, balance, suppleness and competition experience. I guess some viewers hold that against her, and she really doesn't come across as warm or likeable.

I think it will be interesting to see how it plays - my mother had Gabby picked out as her least favourite before the show started, and now likes her after Saturday because she loved their dance, because the judges clearly haven't got her on their favourites list, and she liked her reaction because she believed it. She would rather someone was honest than pretending they are amazed to get good scores.

But I do think the husband and wife thing is a vote loser, for no good reason I can explain. Not anything about Gabby or Kenny as people, just something about including a husband and wife.

I think Gaby will last for some time but she will suffer because the show is half dancing and half popularity contest. The more bubbly girls i.e Aleesha, Penny and Kelly are much more likely to be kept in by the viewers.

I'm sure Gaby will pick up on the fact that her ice-queen demeanour is not a hit...and if she really is a competitor she'll make adjustments.

Matt changed his attitude very successfully last year.

I got the impression that Gabby was unhappy with herself more than the judges, because she hadn't danced as well in the comp as she had in rehearsal - nerves can affect anyone. Of course, I might be totally wrong, and time will tell soon enough. I liked her dancing though, and thought she was better than Penny.

I don't have a problem with competitive (and consequently frustrated) contestants, but petulance really pisses me off.

I didn't see Gabby dance (or her reaction) and I didn't watch the results show, so I'm not going to say anything about her.

Der Chef says

What you have to remember is that Gabby Logan is from a sporting background. These days it is very highly competitive and nobody admits their own failings.

When she interviews Alex Ferguson you will never hear

"We were totally out played off the park in every department and congratulations to ARSENAL they deserved the 3 points far more than we did"

No what you will heat a long whinge about the referee, injuries or fixture congestion.

Its what Jock Stein famously said

"Show me a good loser and I will show you a LOSER "

OHHHH Yeah

I think now the couples are all together it'll be quite easy for Gabby to stay in until at least week 6, she's quite a good dance so unless she has a disaster she's likely to stay in for a good few weeks, its when you get down to there being only 4 or 5 couples left that you start to suffer no matter where you came with the judges. Then the public vote matter so much more, and if she isn't well liked she'll be in the bottom 2, and if she's in it with someone else strong she could well leave.

Also maybe when she's been on ITT and we see her personality peoples opinion's of her may change.
