From the beginning I have loved Alesha, even before I saw her dance I thought she'd be one to watch, but this evening I reckon that Gabby's jive had more content and was executed much better. I just wish Gabby would just "let go" I think she is still holding too much back - maybe through fear of failure??

Had to vote for her although it made me Grrrrr a bit”

Joe Morelli would be proud of you!!!

Gabby lacked the overall performance of Alesha but she had lots of bounce and a lot of skill in her jive. She deserved your vote.

Actually I agree, CRH was the best judge tonight (did I really say this?). I'm not a big Gabby supporter (actually I don't like her as a character, but the woman can dance). My only point would be that her and James need to show some more chemistry, and then they will be fantastic. It was a really good performance tonight.

Just to clarify - I'm not knocking Gabby for being determined/competitive (I think she is bloody good), but I think (in a way that I can't quite explain) that it is affecting her performance a bit.

The best comparison I can think of is in figure (ice) skating where you can see the difference between contestants who get all of the technical stuff right, but don't have that intuitive feel for the music/performance skill that separates a merely excellent skater from the skater that brings the house down.

I came on to say EXACTLY what you said!

Thought Gabby was excellent tonight - if Alesha hadn't been in the competition Gabby would take it (in terms of talent!) for sure.

I thought they marked Gabby SOOO low - and then I thought maybe it was because she was first - didn't want to give her 9's in case others were hugely better and then they'd have to give 10's - however, some of the judges gave Gabby the same score they gave some of the weaker contestants - thought it was unfair.

Alesha has natural talent - an a confidence and rhythm, + fun loving spirit that I think would be quite hard to teach! Gabby's jive had SOOOO much content though! Was fantastic!

Atm I would say Gabby is heading into Denise Lewis / Colin Jackson territory....technically very good but not as engaging as some of the others.

Also, her gymnastic ability is an obvious asset but her physique doesn't lend itself to elegant presentation c/w Alesha and Kelly for example.

That would be Arlene.

Yet Kelly's previous work as a dancer is overlooked.

I would say more Colin Jackson than Denise Lewis (both in all time SCD top three, btw) - Denise & Ian were amazing ballroom dancers (so elegant & slinky etc.), possibly the best ballroom couple SCD has ever had.

I thought Zoe and Ian were fabulous actually, I always found Denise a bit clumpy - can't remember why people didn't like Zoe now?

Exactly!

Also - I really agree with others on here that say Arlene has got it in for Gabby - I hate that sort of discrimination! If you ain't got a...okay, let me put it another way - if you're not a man or a very young sexy gal then Arlene ain't got time for you!

Like it - and so very true. The judges would have so much more respect if they put their bis and OTT praise to the side and told it like it is. I think that is a trait we all have though - I definitely do

I also reckon that Len and Bruno have been affected my "American-itis" this season

I liked Zoe but this really made me laugh!

She was a great dancer but also a very annoying drama queen for much of the series.

In the days of shaving with sharp razors more like cutthroat knives, each morning Mark Twain would cut himself while shaving. Mark then poured out the most colourful stream of four-letter words that you would expect from such a literary lion.

This distressed his genteel wife of exquisite cultivation, and she wanted to show Mark what it was like to be on the receiving end. So Mrs Twain laboriously copied down every four-letter word he uttered, then one morning she reiterated the entire vocabulary word for word.

Mark listened, then inclined his head and said,

"You have the words my dear, but not the tune."

I think Gabby and James came across as enjoying it a lot more tonight and that was nice to see, but I do agree it was as if Gabby was holding back a little on the finishing of the moves, maybe she did not want to appear too gymnastic.
