I'm sorry if there's a thread about this but...................

Wasn't it absolutely dreadful.

There just isnt any excuse for dredging up dances we've seen, repeating the so - called worst two...
How absolutely tedious.

It is such a shame as I do love to see dancing on TV- they are killing it stone dead.

Yes, I did watch this one (I skipped the first) and it was dreadful, too much padding. Really, what is the point of repeating the group dance? Apart from the fact that this one was probably the worst ever (Chris Parker could have done better), we had only seen it 24hrs earlier. Very little new material, and the dance-off - total waste. I actually lost interest in watching, and only returned for the results.

It is now apparent to me that this is a cynical attempt at grabbing the ratings on a Sunday, with a programme that has just enough material for a 20-min segment, not 45 mins. It's little more than a "recorded" live repeat of what featured in the main programme, a rehash for ratings.

They even spoil the actual decision at the end by having each judge waffle on and then say who should go. If they let each judge say something brief about both couples, then flash the lights etc and announce a collective decision, you'd have the old tension. (That would also provide It Takes 2 with another strand of material, with the judges revealing who voted for who if there wasn't a consensus.)

The whole thing, though, was such a dog's dinner of a show. Typical broadcasters - they confuse routine tampering with 'freshness'. Only broadcasters think the rest of us sit at home moaning, 'Why aren't those newsreaders getting up and walking around? This sitting and reading is unbearable!' or 'Blimey, they're still using those dancing bits in between each programme - why can't they have hippos in a circle instead??'

I watched the show dance & the dance-off as I wanted to see if Stephanie made a ba-ls-up or something, as I already knew the result. (Sorry but I loathe West Life & even the lovely Ola dancing could not subject me to their caterwauling - imo).
The rest I fast forwarded - condensed into about 15 mins.
Mind you the show dance was great & I watched it twice & will be going back to have a butchers again later .

I must be the only one who is enjoying the Sunday night show.

It's nice post tea, pre bath family time - though I don't know what the reasoning was for showing the men's dance again.

Yes, there is no real tension now, and it was made worse by the fact that despite trying to avoid any spoilers, I still saw one comment out of the blue that mentioned that the reult was unexpected (which really meant that Kate was NOT in the bottom two). Then it was a case of watching to see who exactly had been consigned to the dance-off.

The BBC have reduced an rather entertaining Saturday results show to a pretty unspectacular pice of filler TV for a Sunday, and in doing so have removed most of the tension, and all of the build-up. All for the sake of ratings.

At least last weeks results show had Karen and Mark Rampakash dancing from last year.

Very disappointed one of the past celebrities was not dancing this week. The repeat of the Mens group dance was no substitute!!

Might as well look at the spoilers on Saturday night and skip the Sunday Programme

VERY VERY POOR

I will admit it was a better show when it was all done on the saturday, but with the result spoiler on here I can please myself whether I watch or not on a sunday... I did think it was a bit of a let down last night.

The entire country is 'change' obsessed. Everything from baked beans to digital spy has to be tinkered with.
Whats wrong with just leaving some things alone?

I agree with all that's been said.
I was away for the first week of the new series and came home to find it split over two nights. I could not believe it and having watched this weeks' two shows I still find it hard to fathom.
The BBC have taken , in my opinion, a brilliant concept and totally ruined it by turning SCD into two lukewarm shows.
There is simply no point to the results show as we had seen it all before and the results were posted on the web in any event, on Saturday night.
Bruce and Tess were wearing other outfits to try and con us into believing we were watching live T.V., but the judges, the audience, etc were still in their Saturday night clothes.
Most people know that Len and Bruno leave for America by Sunday and would not have been here to judge.
Totally pointless.
I am so disappointed. Another great show spoiled.
Of course I shall still watch Saturday, but Sunday - why bother???

Maybe the Sunday night results show will get more interesting when men and women both dance on same night - starting next Saturday? Have to agree, last nights' show was poor. The 'Chicago' routine was pretty awful, nor did I rate James and Ola....

Well I'm sorry too!!.............what is it with all of you who say you are real fans of SCD....I love having a Sunday night show.....the men's dance repeat and Westliffe were unecessary but harmless but I just loved the professionals doing Chicago.........I don't read the News of the World, Mirror, People etc who I presume are giving out results and certainly don't spend Sundays on line so I don't know the results........I think maybe it could be shortened to half an hour.........the judges choosing the couple to go is excellent idea and then you do avoid Chris Parker situation .........I agree with the person who said that it is good teatime viewing on a Sunday - who can really say they don't want SCD in one format or another 7 days a week!

Completely forgot about the results show yesterday, the anticipation of watching the results is totally lost for me.

I do think the BBC is displaying an almost contemptuous attitude towards its audience. I was gobsmacked that they showed the men's showdance again (whether it was a rerun of the VT or danced a second time on the Saturday night is irrelevant - it was still appalling). After all the flak the BBC has received about the two-show format, they still (arrogantly IMHO) treat the audience to blatant filler.

I agree with others that complaints to the BBC will cut no ice, but I might try a letter to Sir Michael Lyons at the Trust. Possibily I need to get a life but I hate that feeling that the BBC is treating its audience like mugs. After all the Licence Fee is a tax which we have to pay if we want a telly.

For the first time next sunday, SCD results show will go head to head with Emmerdale and Coronation Street. I wonder who will win the ratings battle?

I really loved the mens group dance - it was so hilarious & was quite happy to see it again. Unfortunately, i suspect we weren't actually supposed to be falling about laughing. The rest of the show was an absolute waste of time though - i agree with everyone who says that it's a total anti climax. I want my Saturday nights back to normal !!!! (You know what i mean!)

Last year's edited repeat show should've been the template for a Sunday show - it could have been jazzed up if necessary, with more reaction interviews etc. This format just doesn't work. Personally, as I loathe anything to do with Simon Cowell, and have little interest in either Robin Hood or Casualty, my Saturday night's TV now falls flat when it's barely begun. The scheduling seems crazy to me. I suppose I'll have to start taping SCD and then watch it later, but it won't feel the same (and I won't be able to look at the forum at the same time!).

Total swill.

The mens group dance was atrocious ~ even Karen said so this morning on BBC breakfast.

the professional routine was outstanding, but that was the only bit worth watching IMO.

What irritates me is that there are so many good things they could put in the programme - such as, showing clips of great dances from the previous 5 years, stealing an idea of ITT - do a pro's choice section, picking one celeb each week and doing a feature piece on them asking such questions as why they did SCD, background, experience etc etc, pick one pro and show their dance history, pro dances from the previous 5 series - I'm sure others can come up with more excellent ideas, instead we get a rerun of the men's group dance, Tess yakking too much to fill the time and little or no excitement or suspense. Come on BBC sort it out, god knows what we'll get next week when there'll be no group dance to fill the time

Real fans or not, no-one has to put up with a format that seems like an over-long filler with repeated (and rather boring) routines from the previous night and a total lack of suspense.

Or are you saying that real fans should accept anything that the BBC decides to throw at them?

If you want quantity over quality, that's your choice.

I pitch my standards a little higher, and won't swallow any old tripe just because it's being broadcast under the SCD banner.

No and you know perfectly well it was not what I meant-yes the show on Sundays is too long and as to the fillers -anything that shortens Tess Daly screen time would get my vote (she IMO is the worst thing about the show but I have learnt to live with her and have had to accept that the BBC have foisted-aka thrown-her at me).........but quite how has it lost suspense by moving from Saturday to Sunday ....and the same goes for the person who suggested quality over quantity .....apart from repeating the boys laughable dance and the new dance off section its no different to the old Saturday evening 2nd show-so what are you so worked up about -and if you know it is going to be on the blog by Sunday morning why log on???????? Anyway I think the point is made on the rather pathetic Say No petition - 786 signatures out of minimum 3,000,000 viewers - not exactly in a majority are you?....and Puffle has the most interesting solution...and its not moving it back to Saturday
