Have to let us know what its like then, you know how the 360 version runs from the Beta and it is pretty much the same as that except more maps and game modes obviously. Have to tell us how similar the PS3 version is and how the online stands up.

If you want a 360 copy I heard on the grapevine that Major Blink is putting his on E-bay sometime soon.

I will do, i dont expect it to be much different, and i've played the PS3 version a few times in a shop, and it looks and feels exactly the same, so thats why i wasn't that bothered about which version i get.

If i complete it and get a bit bored of the online mode, i'm sure i could just swap it for the 360 version in a local games shop, then i can play you guys again.

I know this is an appreciation thread, but am I allowed to say how much I haven't appreciated how shockingly bad the XBOX Live connection to this game has been tonight..........

Completed !

Damn that was far too short though.

Given the issues I'm currently suffering online It's not like I personally can just go and continue playing online, because it just keeps resetting or losing my rank and unlockables.

That aside, whoa at the ending !

Now to the the Arcade mode.

Did anyone here Chris Moyles this morning on Radio 1? He was going on about COD4, saying how it's amazing and that he is rank 11. From the sounds of things he may be a sniper as he was talking about finding the perfect spot then to suddenly get killed as someone knifes him in the back

It's probably because he couldn't stop talking about how great he was & someone on the opposing team had the Eavesdrop perk.

I'd like to knife him in the back, personally.

You will know which player he is when he is online, as his player avatar will be the fat one stuck in the farmhouse door on the Overgrown map....

Presumably you can also hear him repeating "I'm wonderful, I'm wonderful" through the headpiece

The one thing that has upset me the most about this game is that cream-egg still hasn't found Nicola from Girls Aloud for me hiding behind a box.

3rd night of bad servers. I'm not surprised that COD4 claimed the top game spot but why the hell were the people in charge of getting the server sorted caught short???

I really enjoy this game but it's starting to annoy the hell out of me playing it on multiplayer. Their aim is to sell as many games as possible. And I reckon just about everyone got this game. Way to leave them stranded!

You'd think from the amount of people that signed up for the beta they would've got a fair idea!

To be fair it seems the issue is not to do with the game itself, but instead it's Live. People are reporting other games are not working, Live itself has been down a few times for "scheduled maintenance" so something is up.

Just tonight alone it took around 30 secs before that voice message was sent to you Minnimo.

Certainly the last couple of days issues were with Xbox Live and not with COD4 specifically, I havent tried tonight yet but I didnt even have COD4 in the disc drive last night and i had issues with the entire service with Friends Lists and other things.

I think people have to realise that the problems for the most part with COD4 were not directly COD4 problems but Xbox Live as a whole problems. Having said that, it could be the surge in COD4 players on Xbox Live that has slowed the entire network down to a crawl and causing the issues.

They are meant to be doing (or have done) a scheduled maintainance for an hour today to try and solve all the problems. Not sure when it is but it is probably come and gone.

I think I may give Live a miss tonight and play some more single player. Really tired anyway so I reckon come 9pm I will just crawl into my bed and watch Spooks.

There is definitely a problem with xbox live, my missus is on COD4 now, and in game keeps freezing for about 3 minutes, then itll say connection error.
Also, when i turned the 360 on earlier, i went to sign out, after id signed in automatic in order to watch a video, and the screen froze, again for about 3-4 minutes - making me think it was the console, then the blade would appear.
This was happening every time i tried it, and still is now.

Strange thing also is, if i go to xbox.com, i still get the message in 50 thousand languages that the sites down and check back later, where as if i go to google and find a link to xbox (like the forums or hardware say) then i can access the site.

I know it has nothing to do with the game itself. But I DO believe that it's down to the server being overloaded with people trying to play this game online. And that definitely should've been prepared for. I've got about 3 games in since I went on at 6pm. I'm giving up for the night. The people that don't give a sh*t about work or don't work are gonna be the lucky ones later when everyone leaves to go to bed.I'm really pi$$ed off at it all now.

Finished the single player today on the recruit setting (hey im a beginner at FPS ) and i have to say, i thoroughly enjoyed it. The only FPS i have ever liked before was Halo, but this game was just amazing.
I agree with everyone that the level 'all ghillied up' (spelling?) was amazing, but then so was most of the levels i remember.. the helicopter bit where you see bodies everywhere, the last level.. it was all just very intense, and i felt it was like a really good movie with an awsome storyline. Love the bit where you see that guys arm fly off too hehe (but surely when taking your shot, you cant miss as its suppose to happen?)
I sincerely hope there is a COD5.. again with modern combat/war.. as i wasnt fond on the other COD with dodgy old guns etc lol.
This is one game i wont be trading in or selling.. at least for a few years!!

I think the easiest way to tell if the problem is game specific or a general Xbox Live problem is by looking through your friends list. If many are on the dashboard or in a lobby/party/menu, that would suggest something is up with Xbox Live. Additionally I've noticed these past few nights that gamerscores, avatars, locations and mottos don't show up on gamercards during this time.

So yeah, it does seem to be a more generic Xbox Live problem on this occasion - but as Cream-Egg rightly points out, COD4 could be the cause.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I must admit I'm disappointed though; I'm sure people would prefer they take Xbox Live down completely for a few hours and iron out the problems rather than keep it running on a limited or reduced service. It's very frustrating, especially when merely browsing through menus is sluggish.

They did announce they were taking it down for an hour at midnight US time on the 13th for maintainance, but I am guessing that came and went and it hasnt solved it.

As for COD5...... Inifinity Ward have said a couple of months ago that they dont have the rights and wont be making COD5..... however, they are going to support COD4 with extra downloadable content (didnt mention if it would be free or paid content).

Having said that, if they bring a few new weapons, maps and game styles to COD4 in the future with download content, they can keep this fresh and with such a fantastic job of it so far it would be a shame to try and build another modern COD by the same team when this one is so good.
I would love to see what they can turn their attention (and very high quality) to next. A totaly different FPS or other type game well away from any similarity of COD4
