The key to most maps on Domination is getting to and capturing B first. A and C are generally speaking too far apart to be able to hold both throughout the game, hence B becomes pivotal as whoever ends up controlling that pretty much ends up winning the game. It's also more difficult to overturn B than capture it from the start.

All of which, leaves me amazed at the number of people who as soon as the game starts head straight to the nearest flag. FFS, it only takes one person!

Headquarters is ok, but you're right, if you're landed on a team full of muppets you're on a hiding to nothing sadly. Still, if you're on a decent team there are points aplenty. Well most of the time. I remember one game where the map was Shipment, and I think we won 5-0.......

I agree with you on capturing B first. Unfortunately the draw of those points right at the beginning of the game are too big an attraction.

I'm reminded of a bugs life the little fire flies....."Don't look into the light...I can't help it it's too beautifulllllllllll zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz".

Once you're whole team go for that first flag, and you're the only 1 going for B, you know you're beat.

^^ I have two tactics of choice around B. Either works particularly well if you're heading there alone.

Dependent on the map, if it's sniper friendly, go high and cover B until the rest of your team push up. Ambush is a good example of this. Unless they're extremely clever you can usually end up picking off anyone that tries to capture it.

Tactic B, is for the other maps that generally, are covered to a larger extent. I'm thinking Vacant, Crossfire etc. Here just get as close as possible and lob in a few timely frags at intervals.

I like sniping on certain maps, but I've had certain games where as soon as the game starts everyone on the team heads for the same house and spends the entire game sniping. What's the point?

I think it's down to how many Americans are in the room. If there's more of them than Europeans then one of them will always be the host. IW don't have dedicated servers, it's all run through the hosts 360 (AFIK) so the closer you are to the host (geographically) the less lag you should have. This assumes that the hosts connection doesn't suck. I swear some of them are still on dialup.
I don't think it's just this tbh. I've really noticed the lag on the game has started to get really bad at times. Was playing some Ground War at the weekend.. forget about it! All I heard on the mic was people complaining about the lag too.

I might try out taking B by myself in the first instance. I mean all it takes are 1 or 2 people to take advantage of the scrambling for points on the other team and there ya go.

I thought that if I done this, I would more than likely get shot to pieces by the other team.

Might try this theory out for myself - cheers guys

My strategy is always to go for b first, and I get so annoyed when the rest of my team get 'a' and then faff arouund so the other team end up with b.

I sometimes get shot to pieces but tbh it usually works.

Update on the playlists at fourzerotwo, very intruiged to see this:

"Hardcore Ricochet Playlist - Currently Testing

We’re currently testing this playlist now to see if a patch will be required for it or not. We should know soon. This is the No Teamkilling playlist. Any damage a teamkiller attempts to do to their team mates is reflected onto themselves only. Therefore, if they attempt to shoot an RPG into the ground at the beginning of the match; the only person who will die, is the Teamkiller. This eliminates the fear of being shot in the back by some a-hole, but still encourages players to play tactically and not throw random nades, because if you accidentally hit a teammate, you’re only going to end up killing yourself and they’ll go unharmed. No Teamkilling, No Random Nades. This playlist will include the variant for Hardcore Teamdeathmatch, Hardcore Search and Destroy, and Hardcore HQ."

It was Hardcore Team Deathmatch on Sunday.

We were on Crossroads and Minni was camped behind the sofa in the house at the top of the map. Anyway she decided to have a go at the enemy heli and the game chose that moment to respawn me right in front of her hiding place...

Basically, I was dead before I had finished respawning, lol

I knew there were a lot of us out there, but just how many? Well, I received the reports this week and it looks like our COD4 online community stands at over 10 million strong (Xbox 360 / PS3)! That’s all unique players too, so 10 million different people have logged on for online multiplayer since buying the game in November. Those stats don’t include people who have never logged into MP, only those apart of the Online Community.

That’s insane. With a little over a million players logging in everyday for multiplayer, I can’t say I’m too surprised. It’s awesome to think that we’re all part of building something so massive, and when I say we, I mean me, you, all of us. Everyone who logs on to play with their friends, reads the blog, contributes on the forums, took part in the beta. You guys shaped this game and what it is today. We have one massive, powerful, community and all of you should be proud because there is honestly no other game community I’d rather be a part of. So when I say this, know that I mean it… THANK YOU!!!

We have some new multiplayer playlists in the works to breath even more life into multiplayer, in addition to that I’m working on a few other things behind the scenes that I can’t talk about just yet (in case they don’t come to fruition).

Wonder what that could be?

The numbers certainly don't surprise me.

Handily, one of my mates has only played a few games on it so he's ranked right near the bottom of the tables. He's about 5.5 million places down. Always a good indication of just how many people are out there playing it.

I was on an absolute roll today

I kept all of my games in a positive kill/death ratio, 2 air strikes in a few of them.. And signal wasn't half bad either for most of it. I got in a game and managed to stick with the same people for a good couple of hours.

I would say it was down to pure skill but the realism of it is the other team were all probably suffering from a hang over

One of the best days I've had on there in a long time!

Well that was a good long weekend - I managed to cram in a fair bit of COD4 and had mostly decent scores too.

I spotted someone using an outrageous glitch/hiding place on Backlot and after only a dozen or so attempts in a private match I managed to get to the same spot myself, lol.

Plus i think my sniping is finally starting to get better

^^ There are a few on Backlot. Although I noticed a new one (or at least one I was unaware of) the other day. In the construction site where B is, the building that you can run through to get towards C, there's a balcony that you can get onto. Sadly, I didn't see how to get there though.

I've decided that I now like Chinatown. Starting at A, bypass it and go into the buildings towards B. Instead of running straight through to B, just stand inside the doorway, and bounce a cooked grenade through the door and off the wall. It rebounds right onto where B is. Did it twice last night and picked up 40 points on the first go and then 25 on the next. After that I just head into the building next to B, claymore myself in and then cover B and C. Perched in the window you can pick off anyone running through the buildings from A, and/or lob grenades onto B still.

Over all, your wee character was hilerious last night, from planting claymores behind bins to teaching all the new ones to jump!

Plus last night was the first night I have actually enjoyed being team killed. Mainly because I was doing it back. And me thinks I may have made two new 360 pals out of it. You two when you get around to adding them! Better than bad repping them.

I was in absolute stitches in that last bog match.

Overall I had a brilliant night last night.
