In saying that, I don't really see what getting the gold guns really does for you in the scheme of things.

You and Andy have re ranked a lot. To get through those ranks, I would imagine you need a fair amount of kills and in that time got your head shots.

Someone stays on rank 1 or 2 and gets the gold guns. What's the difference? It's just two different goals at the end of the day. One went one way and the others went the other.

I don't think there really is an opportunity for bragging rights with the gold guns. All they are are shiny examples of what you and Andy would've had by now had you not re ranked.

I guess all it means is - you know the person you're playing with/against in the game, is a lot more comfortable with that/those particular gun/s.

To each their own.

TH14 - no matter how "useless" you think you are, you will get better over time. It's a game that requires practice and some sort of knowledge in how gamers are starting to play in certain maps. You get that over time. Don't be overwhelmed by x-p-d's stats and running yourself down in light of them. He's the only one that does that and it's because he's proud and should be. Plus he used to play the game with a lot of DS'ers on the beta version so likes to keep us up to date since he defected to the PS3.

Ah, but i've seen you bunch on here go on about how you get more points doing headquarters and the like to rank up quicker. I reckon by my points tally i would have prestiged at least 8 or 9 times by now - and i only play team deathmatch, thats why i'm up to 30,000 kills now.

Basically, i decided to only reset my rank once, because after i did it, i instantly missed all my weapons i had got used to. So, by keeping the weapons i like, i've got something else to aim for: gold weapons!

I've said before, there are thousands of people with fancy prestige logos, but i've never, ever seen anyone on COD4 with a golden Uzi so far. I've only ever seen people with golden shotguns. So, thats my prestige - truly having something that a very very small amount of people have.

Thanks for the advice I've decided to plough my way through single player and get some experience that way then I'll give online another go. TBH it's the first FPS game I've played properly so it's taking a bit of time to get used to

Just thought i'd let you know guys, Infinity Ward or Activision don't own any servers - neither do any other game developers/publishers or manufacturers. All online games go through Microsoft, so the issue lies with them i'm afraid.

It seem to be working a minute ago, I have just come off it.

So far online my favourite modes are headquarters and domination, I like a goal to aim for rather than just mindless death match, kill as many as you can type games.

I have also played a tiny map which is basically a square and was quite chaotic, Its the worst map I have played so far, I wish it would not keep coming up in the rotation

Seems to be fine here, got an Xbox fror Christmas along with some games including COD4, been on Xbox Live for a few nights with no problems at all, which surpised me as it's connected wirelessly and quite far from the router, but works great.

you have been a very lucky person then as most of us haven't even been able to get close to an online game on COD4 for days
