Cool, thanks for the info, its going to be a long road to level 560 but at least it should be something to work towards for a long time.

I am happy to work towards the guns each time and its good that the states are kept.

Guys can anyone give some tips in being successful on COD4 online. I'm not a bad player but i do die easily!!

Any tips on perks and guns would be great as i'm going off COD4 slightly which i don't really want to!!!

Currently using M4 Carbine with red dot. Martydom, UAV jammer and 3 frags as perks. Rank 34

Id personaly say that was a bad set up - no offence lol.
My favourite set up at the minute for most maps wich involve running around rather than camping and sniping, and for games such as sabotage and domination is -

Primary weapon - Mp5 with Red Dot
Secondary - Desert Eagle
Special Grenade - Stun
Perk 1 - 3 x Frag grenades
Perk 2 - Stopping Power
Perk 3 - Deep Impact.

On average i get around 25 kills and about 10-15 deaths, sometimes much better, sometimes worse, but i always get more kills than deaths.

If you were going to use a sniper, i recommend using the overkill perk, so you can equip maybe an mp5, p90 etc for close encounters or quick kills.

You've got to really try what you prefer, it took me since release day up until now to get my classes spot on for my taste. I can easily say i also love the M16 and G3, where alot of people dont because they are not automatic firing guns - but they are very precise and could kill someone with 2, 3 shots maximum.

One last thing.. i find most of the perks a waste of time and only use Stopping Power, Deep Impact, sometimes juggernaut and martyrdom only on some maps (like vacant, shipment - small maps) Never ever used UAV jammer, sleight of hand etc... again, its down to finding your own favourites.

Errr, Be aware of your surrounds - get to know the maps well. This way you will know where the opposition are most likely to be. Personally i have different slots for different game mode types, like i only use a UAV jammer on S&D. Also aim for mid-upper chest, this way any recoil bullets are likely to catch the enemy in the head. Dont go in all guns blazing unless your an absoloute pro! Listen out for sounds (jumping, clanking chains, crunching e.t.c). Stay with your team mates, if you can otherwise flank them and come around from the opposite side.

The perks i would pick from would be, frag x 3, claymores, dead silence, stopping power, martyrdom, slight of hand and deep impact. But its totally up to you. Try crouching as much as you can too, as its quieter! The guns i have on my slots are, M4 carbrine (red dot sight), G36c (silence), Dragunov, MP5 (red dot sight) & M16 (red dot sight). What i tend to do aswell is cook quite alot of my grenades, just make sure there timed right though, or else your gonna blow yourself up lol.

Ah i forgot about claymores.. lifesavers for when your sniping!!

I personally use Uavjammer,dead silence and silenced guns.

I would suggest you play a little S&D. A player can learn more from s&d in an hour than you could playing TDM all day!
because.....

A) Once you die,you die. No respawn, So it make's you more aware of your surroundings

B) Once you die,you can watch other players,particually high ranking players and copy tactics,discover hiding spots and copy gun/perk setups.

argh, i personally hate this game mode, mostly for that reason. I hate knowing that if your the last person alive, EVERYONE is watching you and critiscising everything you do.
Also i hate the fact that you dont respawn. You could die in the first 10 seconds with poxy grenades, then you have to be bored for the rest of the game. I prefer more action and actually doing something lol.

My new favourite is Sabotage. You get lots of points, lots of kills and it usually lasts quite a while, and often goes to overtime.
I think the more serious players tend to play games like search and destroy, planning their little tactics on the mic and ordering people about.. where im more in it for the fun and just enjoy killing and trying new things

Overtime in Sabotage is , From the start of sabotage it's manic i.e. loads of people running around and shooting (and loads of talking, If your unlcuky ) But when "Overtime" comes its a totally different game

You really need to practice and learn the maps, also spend some time trying out different perk combinations to find out the right ones for you.

Nah man, i use the C4, its way better.

I stick the C4 to the ceiling where nobody sees it (unlike claymores which are easy to spot) and you only have to tap the square button (or X) twice and the C4 detonates.

I have been known when sniping to plant C4 on the ceiling of spawn buildings, then pistol my way to the other side of the map and when they respawn just blow it up!

Also, i like to stick C4 to the bonnet of a car or two, making a large area lethal f anyone goes near it: on District, i plant a C4 on two cars down the alley way, i can explode an area of about 60 feet!

The only reason i never did really use the C4 alot was because you had to detonate it yourself, if your sniping/shooting then you might be unaware if someone is in the vicinity, around you, or coming for you. Whereas with the Claymores they detonate automatically so therefore it warns you and you can easily snipe/shoot without fear of being snuck up on.

I might start using it abit more though, as it is useful and handy at times - i.e. as X-P-D said putting it on cars or ceilings.

Can you detonate the C4 from far away or do you have to be close?

You can be the other side of the map, it doesn't matter. The best bit is that you dont even have to have the detonator out - just double-tap the square (PS3) or X (360) button and it detonates.

I can just imagine how cheesed off some people are if they watch the kill cam and there is me just walking along double-tap the square button (it doesn't even show) and then they die lol

Here's a question.

I've noticed more & more that when the teams are split, into say 6 vs 6 but anything really, that the higher ranking players always get put on the bottom team, and also that I always get put on the top team. I never get put on the bottom team.

I'm at rank 52 at the moment, not that it makes a blind bit of difference to this. However does anyone have an answer as to why it does this ?

It seems unfair that A) I always get put on the team at the top, and B) That higher ranked players, occasionally mixed in with lower ranks get put on the bottom team.

It's not exactly fair and it makes the whole matchmaking thing useless.

I dont think it matters if you appear in the top team or the bottom team as soon as the game has apparently 'balanced' the teams, but if you are starting the game at the same spawn points every single time you play the maps, then there might be something in it.

I have to say more times than not i start the game at the same spawn points 90% of the time on the maps.

I havn't a clue why...

The C4 is a whole game in itself - its the most fun you can have.

I use the C4 and the eavesdrop perk and listen to them whine when i've hidden a C4 above a door. I just crawl about the map hiding my C4 20 feet away from each other (you get two packs) blow one up, then watch them run into the other one!

I used to use that tactic alot on R6V it was exciting watching people walk into your trap. I'm quite happy with claymores though in COD4 because I know quite a few good places to plant them so that they can hardly be seen. I haven't really tried the C4 trick on COD4 though.

Yeah i used to do it on RS: Vegas too - the best one would be to hide the C4 on the back of a door, shoot at someone who then took cover behind it, and close the door and blow the C4 up.

Because they were stuck behind the door with you in front of it, you could choose how long they stayed there before blowing it up. Then t-bag them!

I was using UAV jammer for ages but then switched to 3 frags, as long as when you fire or kill someone you leg it away from the vicinity - most people when killed will go back to the same place to try to get revenge on the killer! Find a gun you like and stick to it....I find the MP5 with red dot a good all rounder.

You would never catch me with that tactic thanks to the bomb squad perk!
