I was listening to 1up Yours this morning... COD4 is way loaded with multiplayer goodness on all platforms.. It only lacks the replay video functionality of Halo 3. It's single player campaign is supposed to be the mutts nuts too. This could well rate higher than Halo 3 and edge itself into Game Of The Year contendership against Mass Effect and Orange Box.

Wasn't going to buy another 360 game this year but am lacking a decent multiplayer (bored of playing against Barcelona on FIFA! & Team Fortress 2 is too cartoony for me).
So roll on Nov 9th! |

I'll play SP too to learn the controls and have a bit of practice. Does anyone know if you can play the MP maps with bots to learn them?

Yes, it's called Minimo mode
![]() (I say it with love Minimo!) ![]() Er...I doubt you could play with bots, I've only ever seen one 360 game with impressive AI off-line (in the multiplayer of Splinter Cell on hard mode) - they were better than people. |

Either my connection is slow or that is a really dodgy video in the length of time it takes to load!
Everyone likes things big (oh er! ) but that window doesn't even fit in my screen! Off I go to twiddle my thumbs while I wait on this thing loading ![]()

Online details
share of some info for some basic questions that people may have about COD4 Will I be able to use vehicles in COD4 multiplayer? No, but you can however call in support from a wide range of vehicles. How many players can play at the same time in online multiplayer? console gamers only have from 1 to 16 online gamers at the same time. Will there be kill cam in Multiplayer? Yes, Kill-cam will be in multiplayer just like Call of Duty 2. Can you throw grenades back in Multiplayer? Yes, you can throw grenades back in Single and Multiplayer. Can you cook grenades? Yes, you can cook grenades in both single player and multiplayer. They mentioned a new game mode called "Hardcore Mode", what’s that? IW has introduced a new realism mode for the hardcore players, which you can play along with any of the gametypes. So you can play all the gametypes either standard or Hardcore Mode. When playing Hardcore mode there is no HUD, and weapons do more damage (realistic damage). Is there any co-op features in COD4? Nope.. What game types are supported in CoD4? All the classic game types from COD2 returns; Death match, Capture the flag, Team death match, Search and Destroy, Headquarters, Free-for-All, Sabotage, Oldschool, Domination and the rest is yet to be confirmed. What’s all this about unlock able equipment and experience points? CoD4 will use an experience based progression where you earn experience points (XP) for completing tasks and challenges. As you rank up you unlock new items, this is more than just new weapons. This includes Weapons, Perks, custom Camo schemes for your weapon and more. IW speaks about a challenge system, how does that work? Another twist to the typical shooter multiplayer is the addition of challenges. Essentially as you complete challenges, you'll get more experience points. While in a multiplayer game, you gain specific bonuses for completing any of the hundreds of challenges. When a challenge is achieved it unlocks things like the ability to call air strikes and such. What classes does COD4 multiplayer support? When you first start playing, you can choose from one of five pre-made classes; Assault, Sniper, Heavy, Special Ops and Demo. But as you gain experience, you'll be able to customize your own classes, swapping in different weapons or even special abilities called perks. There will also be the option to Create-a-Class which you can unlock through ranking up that allows you to customize your primary weapon, secondary weapon, grenade type, up to three perks, and accessories for your primary and secondary weapons (i.e. scopes, sights, camo schemes). I heard a lot about "Perks" in multiplayer, what’s that all about? Perks are used to customize your character online to better fit your personal style of combat. The perks are broken up into three categories. This helps balance out the Perks a lot. You're limited to three perks total, so you have to choose wisely on what's going to fit your play style the best. There are a vast number of perks available, creating a unique MP experience every match with the large amount of difference combinations available. Can Perks or other options be modified or disabled? Yes, server admins and players will have a large amount of config options to disable / enable as they see fit on their servers. Perks can be disabled and plenty of gameplay options can be modified. Server Admins and players will have a healthy config file to assist them. Challenges/Perks Challenges Another twist to the typical shooter multiplayer is the addition of challenges, which are broken up into many different categories based on the type of challenge they are. This could be likened to Xbox Live Achievements, except specific to Call of Duty 4, and with immediate rewards. But essentially as you complete challenges for doing amazing things in multiplayer (i.e. Blind fire: Get a kill while flashed), then you'll get more experience points. While in a multiplayer game, you gain specific bonuses for completing any of the hundreds of challenges. Kill three opponents without dying and you'll gain access to your radar. Earn a five kill streak and you can call in an air strike (with all carpet bomb kills added to your total). Keep up that spree and earn the right to call in a support chopper to lay suppressive fire on your opponents. List of Achievements Bird On The Ground (20) Shoot down an enemy helicopter with an RPG Bring ‘Em Home (20) Operate an AC-130 gun ship Dancing In The Dark (20) Kill the power Daredevil (10) Kill an enemy while blinded by a flashbang Deep and Hard (90) Complete the game on hardened difficulty Desperate Measures (20) Corner Zakhaev’s Son Down Boy Down (20) Survive a dog attack Earn a Winged Dagger (20) Complete training at the killing house Eyes and Ears (20) Find 30 enemy intel items Four of a Kind (20) Kill 4 enemies in a row with skilled shots Ghillies In The Mist (20) Complete “All Ghillied Up” without alerting any enemies Look Sharp (20) Find 15 enemy intel items Make the Jump (20) Infiltrate a Cargoship Man of the People (10) Save the farmer Mile High Club (20) Sky dive to safety New Squadron Record (20) Complete the cargoship mockup in less than 20 seconds No Rest for the Weary (10) Don’t let him get away Piggyback Ride (20) Carry Cpt. MacMillian to safety Rescue Roycewicz (20) Save Pvt Roycewicz on the stairs Roadkill (10) Kill 2 enemies by blowing up a car Save the Bacon (20) Protect ‘War Pig’ the Abrams tank Straight Flush (20) Kill 5 enemies with one shot while in the AC-130 gunship The Bog (40) Survived the bog The Escape (40) Successfully escaped The First Horseman (40) One down three to go The Second Horseman (40) Two down two to go The Third Horseman (40) Three down one to go The Fourth Horseman (40) Then there was one The Package (40) Secured the package The Rescue (40) Rescued the VIP The Search (40) Completed the search The Shot (40) Successfully took the shot The Ultimatum (40) Made the choice Three of a Kind (10) Kill 3 enemies in a row with your knife Win The War (40) Complete the game on any difficulty Wrong Number (20) Find Al-Asads safehouse Your Show Sucks (20) Destroy all the televisions showing Al-Asads speech Classes and create-a-class A class in CoD4 refers to your avatar's weapons load out (primary, sidearm and special/grenade), various weapon attachments, the camo pattern you'll wear and the 'perks' you come equipped with (more on those in a moment). Different weapons, attachments, camo patterns and other items can all be unlocked through online play. When you first start playing, you can choose from one of five pre-made classes, such as Assault, Sniper, Special Ops, and Heavy. But as you gain experience, you'll be able to customize your own classes, swapping in different weapons or even special abilities called perks. Each character gets three perk slots: the first allows you access to special items like C4 or a silencer; the second has a selection of passive abilities like extra health or faster reloading; the third set seemed a little more specialized, like making less sound. Infinity Ward is planning to have a great deal of perks, giving players a ton of options to play with. Additionally, the Kill Cam will return, giving you a look at the player who killed you with the added bonus of seeing what kind of perks they're using. You can have several custom classes saved on hand at any given time. How to do this is to create a class per game type. So you may have a Capture the Flag class designed towards speed and getting out alive. Like e.g. the Flag Runner. IW talks about a nice light Submachine gun, with perks focused on getting you in and out with the flag quickly, opposed to putting down targets. You can also have one set up for Team Deathmatch, which is the exact opposite. The Submachine gun is gone and you are going in with an assault rifle with three perks focused on brute force and making a mark in a fire fight. You're limited to three perks total, so you have to choose wisely on what's going to fit your play style the best. Perks Complete list: Group #1: Bomb Squad - Ability to seek out enemy explosives (2x) RPG-7 - You will have an RPG-7 in the game. (3x) Special Grenades - You will be able to use special grenades in the game such as flash grenades. (2x) C4 - When enabled, you will have two C4's per spawn. (2x) Claymore - Trip activated exposive mines Group #2: Juggernaut - Gives you extra health. Sleight of Hand - You can reload your gun faster. Stopping Power - Bullets do more damage. Sonic Boom - Higher explosive damage UV Radar Jammer - You will not be detected on radar by firing or from radar in the sky. Group #3: Martyrdom - Drop a grenade just before you die to kill any nearby enemies. Last Stand - Pull out a pistol after you are downed to shoot your killer before you bleed out. Deep Impact - Increases penetration and damage of all weapons through walls or cover. Extreme Conditioning - Allows you to sprint longer. Dead Silence - You make less noise as you move. Steady Aim - Increase hip-fire accuracy Undiefined: Iron Lung - Increases the time you can hold your breathe while zooming in with a sniper. Double Tap - Increase the rate of fire for your gun. Eavesdrop - Allows you to listen in on enemy conversation within 30 meters. Grenade Launcher - Your assault rifle will come with an undermounted grenade launcher attachment. |
