who else enjoyed the vip levels? the second round was great (cos we won
). In the last second I shot one of the players that was walking towards the building from quite far with one shot using my desert eagle. Good times

the rules to the vip game, team a has to look after a vip who is only allowed to use a pistol. Team b has to try and kill the vip

IW could easily design VIP game modes.... in fact I have thought of 3 variations of them.
VIP 1 - Hardcore mode similar to S&D where the defenders have to get the VIP to an extraction point across the map, while the attackers have to stop them, but 1 shot - 1 kill and your out the game like S&D rules. VIP 2 - Same as Hardcore VIP 1 except this time everyone can respawn after 5 seconds except the VIP. This changes it from a tactical stealth game to escape into a frantic sabotage like game to try and get the VIP out the exit point as quick as possible. VIP 3 - Hide and Seek with the VIP, where the Attackers have to kill the VIP in the shortest time, Defenders have to protect the VIP. As soon as the VIP is killed the game switches sides and the Defenders become Attackers and vice versa and the second team have to kill the opposing VIP in less time than the other team managed or they lose the game. So if Team 1 managed to kill the VIP in 2mins 20 secs..... Team 2 have to do it in less than 2mins 20secs or default lose the game. I have also thought about how to add a bit of a change to S&D to stop it being the same all the time and thought..... why dont they have 6 Defend spawn points on each map and the map picks 2 of them at random for the A and B targets to be at. This means that everytime you play S&D the two targets could be in any of 6 places randomly selected which means that every game you play you have to change your tactics slightly about which is the best target to go for, how best to attack it and how best to defend it. I just think at the moment every time you play S&D you know exactly where the target is, where to claymore, where to camp to defend it, how to attack it, etc. If you had just that slight variety of the targets being in any of 6 locations on the map (all pre-tested by IW to make sure nobody has a big advantage/disadvantage where it may locate itself) then it just adds some variety to that map each time you play it, and do that for all the maps and you have a lot of variety to stop it getting so boring. Imagine it, on Crash, the defend targets (2 of them as usual) could be randomly placed, in the shop, in the 3 storey, in the usual places, in the back warehouse.... any of 6 locations!!! |

I just reckon that its all well and good getting new maps soon, but after 2 or 3 weeks of hard playing we will start to bore of them as well, especially if we dont personally like 1 or 2 of them in the way we dont like Wetworks or Showdown.
The best way to add variety and fun and make the game last longer is adding new game modes or altering ones to make them more varied and i just feel S&D (which i LOVE) is getting stale and boring with the targets always in the exact same places on every single map and everyone from 2nd Prestige upwards knows how to capture them or where defenders are! |

I only really hate Countdown & Bloc as they're pretty badly designed, compared to the others.IW have said that the last patch enables them to change the game modes easily, so hopefully they will. Once the new maps come out we'll see how serious they are about supporting COD4. When did you play the VIP games? Was it Saturday, when I went out? That'll teach me for having a life.

Of course, i didnt defend nor attack any of the VIPs,
I just wandered around making up the numbers, in my clubfooted, visually impaired kind of way. really enjoyed it though. ..Keeps telling himself he'll get better

They were meant to be changing the Game Modes BEFORE the DLC came out..... I guess they had their hands full with trying to bring out the 4th map instead of the 3 map pack they intended.

I don't mind Showdown or Wet Work. Countdown I can take or leave. I either do very well, or very poorly on that one. The maps I like the least are Vacant, which again tends to not go well for me as it's more suited to the 'run-and-gun' brigade, and Bloc, which is by far, the worst map on the game.
I'd quite happily see Bloc withdrawn from service when the new maps come out. The others all have redeeming features, even Vacant, but Bloc, I just cannot stand. |

Played Bloc for the 1st time yesterday, and hated every moment of it. It seemed boring to me but that is probably cause i dislike sniping.
On a seperate note, whats the "hardcore"game type and at what rank is it unlocked? |

It means it's very easy to kill people (but also to be killed yourself). You can shoot your team mates (only for so long though as it starts killing you as "friendly fire will NOT be tolerated". But it's available from whenever you want to play it. |

It's bearable for Search & Destroy but I won't play any other game mode on it.Hardcore games remove the HUD & map & have "realistic" bullet damage and friendly fire on - be careful with those grenades! And if you're sniping sometimes your team-mates name doesn't come up. I've killed Minnimo a couple of times because of this. I prefer Hardcore Search & Destroy but dislike Hardcore Team Deathmatch. Even people with Juggernaut on can be taken down quickly on Hardcore. Watch out for Last Stander's, though. ![]() I wouldn't recommend either until you know the maps well & are confident in your ability as it can be a bit overwhelming at first. |

Team killing is ON so be careful who you shoot at. 1 shot - 1 Kill is ON which means that bullet damage is realistic that 1 or 2 bullets will kill a person. It is meant to be based on realism so that you are playing just the same way as a soldier in the field is doing. It can be daunting and hard to play at first but if you learn to move slow and think ahead before charging in you soon learn to pick it up how the gameplay is different and soon come to grips with a new way of approaching maps and gameplay. |

Are you talking about downpour?
I hate Downpour, it should be removed from search and destroy as it's the most 1 sided map on the game. It's just so easy to defend. |
