T810 - Prob with EPG on radio channels
AlanO

Hi,

Have had an 80gb T810 for a while now and am pleased with it.

Recently though a bug has appeared in the EPG around the radio channels.

Basically, all the channels are shunted 'down' by two positions, so R1 listings appear against 702, 1Xtra against 703 etc.

If you select the channel from the channel list you get taken to the one with the programmes i.e. you highlight 702, the box takes you to 700 which is what the programme details are.

If you key '702' on the number pad, you get taken to 702.

It looks like the problem is caused by channels 304 and 305 which the box believes are 'hidden'.

Am on Sandy Heath tx and software on box is 5.1.

Any ideas ?

It's a bug. Check out T816 Bugs for confirmation of your observations.

Yes, Vestel should now be aware of this bug. Hopefully this will be fixed for the T816 boxes. However, it is looking increasingly unlikely that they are going to develop the T810 software any further, so if this bug is a problem for you I would suggest considering returning it for a refund (or exchange for a T816) if it is still in its guarantee period.

I rescanned last night for Dave/History at about 19:45h. Interestingly I do not have this problem (T816 - v2.4). 304 and 305 are showing up as normal (no hidden-ness...) and my radio stations are on the correct numbers. I use Rowridge transmitter without relay.

Anyone know why I don't get the problem? Perhaps others can get their boxes working like mine, if this can be determined?

I believe it is channels 303 and 305 (at least here on the Tacolnestone transmitter). During a channel scan, those two channels show up with "(hidden)" next to them.

Do those channels show up in your EPG? Here they do not - the channels shown in the EPG are 300, 301, 302, 304, 700 around that area. If channels 303 and 305 show up on yours, then your transmitter obviously isn't setting these channels as hidden. I know when somebody else first brought the problem up that I couldn't reproduce it either - at that time Tacolnestone wasn't setting those channels as hidden, but now it is.

Yep, they are showing up. So Rowridge wasn't doing 'hidden' last night. I'd better not rescan again, then. I'll wait for the update. It looks like it's expected soon since another thread has mentioned that Sharp PVRs will have the new firmware next month.

Fingers crossed then that Vestel will rush the rest of us a copy of the new firmware next month too. If they can't transmit it straight away I'm betting there'll be a concerted effort from all here to get a copy. A seperate request from each and everyone in this section of the forum with a T816 couldn't be ignored every time I'm sure.

Wouldn't be so sure. Sharp may have been told that, or are at least under that impression, but that doesn't mean deadlines won't be missed - I mean the lack of Argos Wharfedale HDMI units that were promised the end of August is an example . The version number shown in the manual is already quite old, so clearly the manual was written using intermediate test versions. Maybe it was somebody at Sharp who was involved with the recent spat of leaked software, but then again at least one of the software versions leaked was specifically for a HDMI version of the T816.

Personally, I'd rather they'd not rush the FP Group 2 software, and at least iron out the serious bugs before release, which means it should be given some adequate testing first. Vestel are still working on the software, AFAIK.

Sure. No disagreement from me. Still, you never know, Sharp may be more on the ball than we think.

I only mention the idea of encouragement to broadcast once we know the finished version is on the shelves for sure.
