As a web n walk plus user I can connect to msn messenger just fine via t-mobile on a laptop. I can also use skype (is this unusual on the 'plus' version - as opposed to 'max'?).

HOWEVER, I cannot say for certain that there are not issues with some accounts that make it impossible to cannot to messenger - I wouldn't know. Maybe there is an undiagnosed problem of some kind, either at the user end (i.e the posters here) or the service end (t-mobile). I cannot only speak for my own service, which appears to run without a hitch.

I didn't take a photo of a screenshot, I merely took a photo of the screen and edited the photo to hide my contacts list details.... the IP details are included in that picture.

Same with mine and the ones from work - although I have also tried with an old Nokia handset supplied from Orange which was network unlocked and had a T-Mobile PAYG SIM card in it.

My prayers were answered this week when Three decided to offer mobile internet as an add on for pay and go customers.

MSN messneger works first time every time with three mobile internet. Same phone, software and cables that dont work with t-mobile work work fine with three

I can 100% confirm that t-mobile are liars when they say they dont block MSN.

Windows Live as it is now known works perfectly fine with my Nokia N73 on T-Mobile.

Windows live mobile may well work.

Windows live on a laptop certainly does not work

It used to work fine, a year ago in October was travelling along the central belt fired up my laptop and sat browsing the net as usual using my phone as a modem without a problem. Not tested it recently though. Windows Live Mobile on the phone directly works, as does Fring.

They started blocking msn for PC's around the begining of july this year.

It worked prefectly before july. As good as three are today.

To get an add-on create an online account for the number assiciated with your sim. From this online acount you will be purchase all kinds of add-on's

I do not have a dongle, instead used my n70. so it was only 384 kbps. however the dongle supportd speeds of about 3.6 mbps.

Its pretty good + no 12 month contracts. no reduction in webpage quality like on t-mobile and no blocking of IM. MSN and Yahoo work fine, both of which are blocked on T-mobile

As everyone else keeps pointing out Windows Live Messenger still works on T-Mobile Web'n'Walk from PC's, using the official client.

Anyway, T-Mobile and Three UK have agreed to merge/share their 3G networks (although Three will continue to use Orange for GSM) which should be good for both networks (i.e. 90% UK population coverage for 3G for both networks). There are persistent stories linking T-Mobile to buying Three UK as well, this agreement adds strength to that one, so you may have to switch networks if you really hate T-Mobile that much.

Those people who keep pointing it out have vested intrests in T-Mobile. T- Mobile sales managers & Resellers etc etc. These lies dont change the fact that it is impossible to connect to MSN on your computer using the official windows live client via T-mobile web 'n' walk.

I don't work for T-Mobile at all and mine works fine, on my K810 via USB and Bluetooth (Flext), on my PAYT SIMS (K800i), another PAYT SIM (Nokia 6230), two 3G cards (Max and Plus), and numerous contract phones (mainly Varios on Business One). Diamond Day does annoy me when I'm on hold every 14 days or so when another Vario at work has broken though...

hmm, but suspicious that you have several t-mobile sims.

I cannot comment on the business plans (though im sceptical).

There is no doubt that it doesnt work on consumer plans. That is a FACT. You can try it on any hardware you want, it wont make any difference. This is not a hardware issue, this is a network issue.

I would try connecting with any hardwired or wi-fi connections switched off. You might find it a bit more impossible then.

So how was I able to do that very thing with my laptop and N95 this afternoon?

I think you'll find that just because something doesn't work for you, doesn't mean the service does not exist. I've read your posts through this thread and although there's clearly an issue with your service, Tmobile simply do not block msn on their network. During the summer I only ever used my N95 as my web connection at home, rather than a fixed-line broadband service. I used msn everyday, there would be the odd downtime but you get that with any ISP.

I personally have three T-Mobile SIMs - my contract SIM, and two free PAYT SIMs they sent me (both in my spare phones). It works fine on all of these, with WiFi disabled (and for good measure the router 200km away) - an Ethernet cable has never been put in this laptop since I purchased it. And FWIW, my sisters Samsung contract T-Mobile handset works fine with it too.

The rest are though work (and either normal PAYT SIMS or Contract ones), I happen to be responsible for setting them up for our staff and arranging replacements when they break.

FWIW, My t-mobile contract SIM doesnt work, My mum's t-mobile contract sim doesnt work, my payg T-mobile sim doesnt work.

My payg three sim works first time every time. The same way it used to work on web'n'walk before they blocked it in july 2007

God are you still fighting this losing battle? I have spoken to several operators within recent weeks, they do not block the service and never have done. I can connect to WLM via the standard web n walk without any issues, you keep saying T-Mobile are liars.....what proof do you have to say they are liars?

Plus dare I ask what version of WLM are you using? Quit calling everyone here liars, there is clearly an issue with your setup. Enough already!

Now let's just look at that for a while. Why would they withold a service that people clearly want? Wouldn't that contribute to people leaving them?

In any case it's interesting how you've changed your mind on this. Clearly you've got it wrong. You've been spouting the same rubbish about tmobile blocking msn for everyone, yet back in post 14 you say..

Quote:
“For some its blocked and others its not. Its not worth taking the risk of a 12 month contract for something that might or might not be blocked.”

So you're contradicting yourself quite spectacularly.

So, to the independant reader of this thread, I ask them to weigh up the evidence. We have tmobile who provide the msn service to those are on the correct set-up and realise that to deprive their customers of it would end up with them losing custom.

And then we have you who first contradicts himself then secondly quite pathetically accuses anyone who has the service of lying. Yep that's right there's a massive DS conspiracy against you, as you are clearly a threat to national security.

Spoken to several operators? Sales people with a vested interest? Sales people who havent got a clue?.
Anyway,
That's what t-mobile say. They are lying.

Sounds like a typical question that t-mobile technical support would ask. Last time i called them i was told to downgrade to a version that isn't even supported by microsoft any more. When i reconnected to a standard inernet connection i was greeted with a message saying that i could not log in unless i upgraded.

If it is an issue with my setup. please tell me why i have no difficulties connecting to the service using three?

Millions of pounds in text message revenue? or a free for all with instant messaging. Even a primary school kid can work that one out
FYI I will be leaving them at the earliest opertunity.

If you go back to post 11 which is before 14 you will find that i said it was blocked. Only in responce to post 13 i conceeded that some people might actually be able to access the service. I have always insisted it has been blocked I no longer believe anyone who says they can connect to msn messenger using web 'n' walk.

T-mobile are lying when they say they dont block it. That is fact regardless of the odd lucky customer(employee) for who it might work.

T-mobile couldent set me up correctly. and that is after whole week of evenings on the phone.

It sounds like they will reposess your house if you dont convince the public that t-mobile dont lie. To the independent reader, i would suggest borrowing a mates phone before signing any web 'n' walk contracts to see if the services is really suitable for your needs.

RE post 18, You seem to have intimate knowledge of what t-mobile can and can't do with their customer management system. So really? you do work for them? (or have a vested intrest in them)
