I don't particularly like Kelly, but it has nothing to do with her looks - just not a fan of what we have seen of her personality. I like Alesha's personality and I liked Mark's as well which is why I like both of them. Would be surprised if looks actually comes into it for a lot of people.
She has the potential to go far in this competition - especially with the judges having the final say so please let's see the real person. This is why people are warming to Aleesha because she is open about not dancing before, being the biggest fan of Strictly and because her laugh appears genuine. Penny too seems so genuine, the way she rubbed Kate's knee when she was upset was just totaly natural. Having said that the show is shaping up really well and i'm enjoying it - apart from the pretence of the Sunday show being live. We all know it isn't so why don't the Beeb just script it accordingly now instead of treating its fans as idiots. JX JX |

I'm with you on this Erinfan. And before you all jump on me as a jealous woman it is not the case.It has nothing to do with her looks. There is no doubting she is very beautiful but so are many of the other female contestants and many women the world over. It's her annoying false modesty (she's not known for being modest after all)that is irritating me. As I said on another thread she is a trained dancer - she went to Italia Conti stage school and unless she was the only pupil who sat out the dance classes she has been dancing a long time so the whole "I didn't know what a rumba was before today" and "I thought we might get 5 or 6 for our dance" and pretending she didn't think she was very good was just so fake.Billy Zane is in print for saying she has had training in the States too. I'd have more repsect for her if she was honest that's all. She CAN dance, she DOES look amazing, now all she has to do to win the public over is be natural and honest. And please stop the over the top laughing at every given opportunity.

JX JX So far I cannot recall Kelly saying she's never danced before so she's not lying, she's just not making a meal of it why should she? It's quite obvious from their hand and leg movements that most of the girls have had some form of dance training, whether formal or not - yes Alesha has had some training, she must have to have danced in the videos even if it was just being taught a choreographed dance for the video - it's still training in whatever shape or form! Alesha is just as, if not more, OTT than Kelly especially last night on ITT and on the clips shown on Sundays results BUT she's seen as being warm and genuine, yet Kelly is false - I seriously do not understand this. Apparently Kelly was on This Morning on Monday and according to other forumites came across very well and very genuine, so perhaps those who slate her shouldn't believe all they see on the BBC?!? Has anyone ever stopped to think that she might be being manipulated by the good old BBC into wearing the short skirts etc etc, or, heaven forbid she just finds it more comfortable and less restrictive to wear something like that? Sorry to pick on your post to quote JX, nothing personal but I couldn't fit all the ones I wanted to answer in so I just grabbed yours as the last one posted! |

To be honest it wouldn't have mattered which pro they put her with, they'd all have been checking her out regardless of their sexuality - most, if not all, men would, as usual it's the BBC putting the spin on to show Brendan in a bad light AGAIN. I'm sure she puts him very firmly in his place but we're never shown that.
Personally, I found Vincents innuendo's to Louisa last year more disturbing than anything that Brendan's done to Kelly this year. erm not according to my gay male friendsI know where you are coming form with Vicent last year - at first it really bothered me as she was only 17 and he was so much older Don't get me wrong I'm sure kelly is used to walked around in pools of male saliva and I'm sure she can handle Brendan, I just dislike the way that's all so stereotypical Last edited by kittles : 17-10-2007 at 10:34. [quote] Mystique videos were all incredibly simply stuff repeated and with lots of attitude rather than proper dancing. As Alesha said, more gyrating than anything, she would never have been given proper training of hand and leg movements. BUT I'm not just being biased here - she has an advantage due to the confidence she has gained on stage. Alesha is OTT, but to many people it's hilarious as it is obviously just her personality and very genuine. She is genuinely bonkers. To many people, Kelly just sounded a bit fake and insincere with her "Oh my, I'm so shocked" stuff. Perhaps it is wrong to think that and we may see that it is in fact very genuine over the weeks. At the moment I just generallly find Kelly a little irritating and fake, but I certainly don't hate her and I want to like her as she will give us some glorious routines. Maybe she will grow on me in the next few weeks, I still have an open mind regarding their partnership - just giving my honest opinion as it stands now. |

If anything we should be slating the press AND the BBC because they're the ones who continually provide us with this one dimensional idea of her - ie she's just a pretty face |

I think they are a great couple but I'm not a massive fan of either personality!
However If they are the best come the final night ( the new judging system tells me no matter what happens the judges will ahve them in the final) I will vote for them! I'm sick to death of crappy contestants getting through because they have a good story or they improved a lot (despite still being pretty rubbish) or they are partners with Lilia! The competition is to find the best dancer and if a couple I don't really like are that couple I would want them to win! |

I did say most, not all about the men! The gay ones may not drool but I'm sure they'd check her out just the same as the straight ones do, it's human nature to look at another beautiful human, male or female.

If anything we should be slating the press AND the BBC because they're the ones who continually provide us with this one dimensional idea of her - ie she's just a pretty face I totally agree and this was what I was getting at - the media and strictly are totally colluding in the stereotyping of her as a giggly sex object |

I love marmite, but am fairly indifferent to Kelly and Brendan, although I do love Billy Zane.
I think Kelly's hair is fab and I loved the music to their Rhumba, I did prefer Alesha's though. I do feel that Brendan tries to play on sex god/bad boy too much and the cliche diminishes from what potentially could be a good partnership. If Kelly has danced professionally in musicals, then I do feel she has more of an advantage to the other dancers even if they have been to stage school as she will have worked with professional choreographers. However this would not generally put me off her but she would have to dance streets and streets ahead of the competition to be a person I would vote for. (I do operate a slight personal handicapping system with my voting) |

Alesha is beautiful but she could be your little sister.
Penny is beautiful but she could be your big sister. Gabby is good-looking but she could be your head prefect. With Kelly every woman knows instantaneously that her boyfriend or husband will be distracted...... |

So your basically saying that no men will find Alesha/Penny/Gabby attractive and no women are capable of forming an opinion other than jealousy.
It's getting increasingly annoying that you can't post anything even slightly negative towards Kelly on this forum without ten replies of 'OMG! You're just jealous of her looks, stop being a bitchy woman!' |

Kelly was slated for rolling up her dress and training in her underwear, not for wearing shorts.

I promise to be on my best behavior tomorrow. .Seriously there was a hint of sarcasim (spelling) in my reply as I can see I p****d a few people off yesterday. As for posting negative comments about Kelly......Well I HAVE.....I`am sick of the self promotion in the red top daily rags. However she does seem to be this years Love or Hate contestant and I just happened to have really enjoyed her dance, so I`am in her corner. That said I thought Gabby,Alesha,Stephanie,John and Dominic were great too and have posted comments to that effect in other threads. So it`s definitely not a case of Kelly, kelly and give me some more Kelly.(Well only in my dreams )

I don't think any of the contestants have had ballroom dancing training, which is what counts.
I think Kelly is terrific, she's a lovely girl and doing very well. She certainly works hard. |

A hypothetical thought,
if the young Elizabeth Hurley had appeared on SCD, how would she have been received? |

That's a good point.
Well, i don't believe forums are a true representation of the general public's opinions. Most people, who don't go on forums, just enjoy the show and the dancing for what it is. I am sure that most would have liked Elizabeth Hurley if she had put on as good a performance as Kelly. |

Loathe both of them in this competition! Might be nice people outside it but it has brought out the worst side in both of them! Hope they go and quickly!
