Feel free to comment on mine or add your own. My suggestions are as follows:

The Auditions:
They might as well drop Danii. I don't think she's really added much to the show. If they can find someone decent (perhaps someone lesser known from behind the scenes but more "up to date" than Louis or Simon). Most importantly, I'd cut the sob stories out. I'd also like to see them cut the shows back to 4 or 5 instead of 6. Suggestions for how to replace them are included later. Some people have said that the first auditions with the producers are ignoring talent for stories. Stop this and start looking for personalities, entertainers, something different and of course, good singers. I'd also put the age limit back to 16. Another important change would be stopping the routine of every day starting badly and then brightening up with one brilliant sob story.

Boot Camp and Judges Houses:
I'd like more time spent at bootcamp. Some of the people we saw alot of at auditions vanished suddenly at boot camp. It should be the first step of getting to know people. Again, no sob stories and far less crying!

I'd also like to see some kind of semi-final or wildcard round to give the viewers more of a say. Perhaps the judges could pick 2 or 3 of their final acts and those that just miss out would have the chance to compete for the viewers vote to make the finals? An alternative is that the fourth judge would have the "wildcard" category. All their acts would be selected by the viewers. They would have one 16-24, one 25+ and one group.

Live Shows:
The challenge of the live shows is to balance some great performances with entertainment. Firstly, I would cut out the themed weeks. I liked series one and two where contestants played to their strengths, looked more comfortable and offered a wider selection of music that could satisfy everyone. If themes are essential, then stick to "Songs from Cinema", "Music of the 90's" or "Big #1's" as oppose to the music of ABBA or Barry Manilow.

The sob stories are being used as a way of showing a "human" side to the performers. Without this, there needs to be a new way of "connecting" with the finalists. I'd like to see more opportunity for contestants to respond to the judges and possibly a "Green Room" where they can speak away from the cameras and perhaps answer a viewers question instead of the often over-acted VT's.

I'd also put Fearne on the live shows alongside Dermot to help with this. I'd have 3 acts in the final as this worked well in series 2 and also allows for someone to drop out due to family reasons or illness. I'd love to see the final be more of a "red carpet" event like American Idol. Hold it somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall or even the O2 arena.

Get rid of the sob stories and change the host. They are the only reasons, this years X Factor is annoying.

The Auditions:
Firstly STOP this bloody routine: Dermot says "Judges are hoping for a good day". Then we get one horrible audition where there are four "no's". Then we see around 5 quick clips of really bad people. Then Dermot says: "But can person X turn it aaround for the judges?"... cue sob story... "Oh my cat died last year and I want to win the competition for my cat, who sent me a signal from heaven to win the show."--- The person sings, they're not brilliant, but gets put through because they have a sob story.

Also They should show more good auditions- i used to like watching novelty acts because they were unny, but now it is tiredsome- i wanna see to talent. Also definitely cut back on the sob stories- maybe one or two, but not like now where every other contestant has a sob story!

I'd prefer it if they just showed a city a week. I like how American Idol do this- dunno why though?!?! I want to also see "nasty" simon back. I dont know if anyone else has noticed but increasingly simon is becoming nicer. Before he used to say it how it was, but now it just seems he sometimes says things just for tv (just what i personally think).

Boot Camp and Judges Houses:
i would like to see more time at bootcamp also like the op. We didnt see half the people we saw that got through from the auditions- perhaps space bootcamp over 2 weeks?

Live Shows:
No narrowed themes like "Barry Manilow or Abba week". Have "No 1's", "Songs from the 90s/80s". "Song from the year I was born." "Songs from movies/theatre."

Also keep the judges' votes- I think it adds a spice to the show, even if most of the time the mentors simply vote to save their own acts, regardless of talent.

I'll miss this part of the show this year. I can't think of a way around it with 4 judges, unless the two remaining have to reach a unanimous decision. I hope we at least have a second round of public voting.

Some posters have said it will just be a straight public vote now that the Pop Idol lawsuit is settled. Now, on the basis that the settling of this lawsuit has given us themed weeks and possibly no judges vote, I really wish it had never ended.

It might have been unfair, but the infamous night of the "Irish Mafia" was worth it. It's probably the only time I can remember shouting at my TV apart from sport! Even Simon thought Louis made a stupid decision.

I like the idea of a Wildcard. There are some people that are overlooked or just mess up. A second chance for those people would be interesting.

Strictly Come Dancing have adopted the judges vote this series and they have 4 judges. If there is a tie, the head judge Len Goodman gets the casting vote. I don't know if that would be fair on XF though.

I think thats how they worked it on the original Pop Idol where Simon had the casting vote. As you say, though, with the element of judges competition this wouldn't work fairly.

Simon having the casting vote would be unfair. Could he be impartial and not just vote off his rivals?

If there's a tie they should rely on the phone vote, whoever has the most votes from the remaining two acts stays.

All excellent suggestions!

You have a great imagination, you really should work on this show!

I particularly like the suggestion about the viewer's vote at bootcamp, or the 'wildcard' category for a judge.

Fire and replace the entire production team.

Ban the current tired and predictable way editing of the audition stages. NO PREVIEWS OF WHAT IS TO COME BEFORE EVERY INTERVAL.

Ban sob stories. No lame background music when meeting people about to audition.

More emphasis on talent, less on the freaks. And don't put anyone like Chico, Icaro or one of the sobbing kids through.

Less time spent on auditions, more shows watching a more intensive bootcamp.

Some twists for the later live shows. Have they done collaborations before?

Finally, redesign the logo.

I'm not so sure Simon will be keen on that! LOL

I agree on the first point and completely on the second point. It's not often that something naturally funny happens on XF like Sharon and the door, sadly we'd seen it a dozen times by the final showing and it wasn't funny anymore.

Agreed.

I hated him at the time, but I think Chico added alot to XF2. If Icaro had made it, they would have crossed the line. I also suggested bringing the age limit back up.

Agreed.

In the final last year, Ray sang with Westlife and Leona sang with Take That. It worked really well.

Finally, redesign the logo.
There was talk that the whole colour scheme was going to be blue this year. So I'd like to see that and also a new theme tune.

Ah, of course. Well, one week when there's an approrpiate number of acts left, they could do collaborations with each other, as a second performance.

I suppose it might be tricky with the groups. It could work well with the most talented of the male and female categories though. I'm not talking Elton John and Kiki Dee, something a bit classier.

More general themes, love songs, No 1's, etc. That way every act can find a song to suit.

I'd rather have bootcamp at the individual judges houses as in previous years.

And most of all cut down the sob stories

Most of the final 12!

The sob stories.

The gratuitous showing of bad singers, car crash television at it's worst.

Sharon Osbourne.

The judges vote at the end. LET THE PUBLIC DECIDE!

As said by loads of people, they need to cut out the sob stories. I don't give a shit about these people's backgrounds, I only care if they are entertaining and can sing.
Also, they need to cut out all the SILLY editing. .I don't need to see what's coming up in the next segment, or what happened two episodes ago. It's really irritating.
The live shows are okay, but they need to get rid of the themes. It really limits the choice of songs and the songs may not suit the singers.

Ban sob stories so the judges don't feel obliged to put through acts that are crap.
