I was just reading the BBC Strictly site and someone said they have it on good authority that this is Bruce's last series. Of course, it may not be true but if it is, his will be a tough act to follow. Who do you think would be a good presenter? Pleeeeese, not Vernon Kaye.

I think Lionel Blair would be good - but is he nearly as old as Bruce? I don't know.

It really it is time for him to go now.
He has been a superb performer over the years and has much affection from the public.
However, on SCD, he has becme increasingly cringeworthy with his rotten jokes and now it seems to be all too much for him with constant mistakes.
The end of the series would be the right time for him to leave.

It's sad to say but it would not be a bad idea for him to finish after this series.

Replacement...John Barrowman?

It's amazing and depressing that it is very difficult to think of anyone with the right credentials to present prime time live light entertainment anymore.

Look at what happened to the Generation Game when Brucie left it.

"Jim Davidson's Strictly Come Dancing" anyone?

Let's start a petition now, just in case.

(edit to add : this has made me realize - wouldn't Larry Grayson have been a fantastic host of SCD?)

Oh John Barrowman - what a good idea! Or he could be a judge.
Drop Craig.

I agree Larry Grayson would have been good because basically he seemed to be very kind.

*thinks of Jim Davison* noooooooo(silent scream)

If I had to have a bet, I'd bet that Bruce will still be the host next year.

One thing we know about Bruce is that if the price is right (pun not intended), he'll do anything.

Anyone remember the Courts adverts?
The Price is Right
Play Your Cards Right (he even revived that once a big enough cheque came his way).
Slinger's Day (anyone remember that?)

His missus must have a stack of credit cards.

My guess: he's dropping hints about leaving just in time for the next series' salary negotiations. He's in a strong position: he might not be popular on this board, but he's associated with the programme and changing the presenter will be very risky indeed.

(edit to add: very uncharitable post this. Maybe he's just tired and wants to retire. Bet not though).

Der Chef says

I think my idea from that year is the best

BASIL BRUSH

He shares the same joke writer as Brucie and it would be really cute seeing Tess carrying him down the stairs at the start.

Ohhh Yeah

Dale Winton would be a good presenter though I don't know what dancing credentials he has.

Bruce won't be a a hard act to replace --anyone can muffle their lines, forget names, tell cheesy unfunny jokes, etc. etc.

And not being ageist, but please, Lionel Blair?

If this is true, then please don't make it Vernon Kay. Julian Clary has a link with the show and he's got experience of hosting shows, as has Dale and Graham (yeah, I know that's not the only thing they've got in common) and they have all done family friendly type shows.

Graham Norton maybe or Dale Winton.

Bruce Forsyth bids farewell to the ballroom

The BBC today announced that Bruce Forsyth will be leaving the hit show Strictly Come Dancing at the end of the current series. The new host will be former Generation Game star Jim Davidson.

"It's sad to leave such a great show, but I want to leave it on a high and I'm looking forward to pursuing some new projects", said the veteran entertainer yesterday.

Excited
Jim Davidson, best known for revitalising the "Generation Game" is said to be excited at the prospect of hosting the new show. "He'll certainly be adding some of his legendary humour", said his agent Brian Crankshaft, "although he'll have to avoid the blue stuff".

Chalky
"It will make a refreshing change" said one member of the digitalspy.co.uk website, a well known fan site. "Bruce was great but getting a bit tired, I'm looking forward to an injection of young blood. I'm particularly looking forward to him saying 'nick nick' and bringing us up to date with his old pal Chalky".

His co-host Tess Daly has also announced she is leaving the show. She is planning to persue some projects with her husband, legendary TV presenter Peter Kay.

Dry Cleaners
No announcement has been made about a co-host for Davidson, although a BBC insider revealed that Mr Blobby's costume is on its way to the dry cleaners.”

Lionel Blair looked as though his teeth is going to fall off the last time he appeared as one of the Friday panel. Noooooooo.

Vernon? Never!

Ever!

EVER!

John Borrowman. If BBC pays him half of what Bruce is getting now he'll drop everything join the SCD family!

edit to add: Jim Davidson? Isn't he the one who ALSO declared bankrupt, like Bruce?

Bruce was declared bankrupt? Really? I didn't know that - I'm staggered, I thought he was loaded.

When he tried to break into the American market and went bankrupt because his venture was a DISASTER...

Is that serious about Jim Davidson hosting SCD?

I would NEVER watch it again if that were true.

Sorry little me - my clunky attempt at humour.

I'm glad you were not serious! Blimey, it would be far worse than Vernon Kaye!

I'd rather stick with Brucie, he may be old and getting a bit doddery but the programme appeals to all ages and many people have associated Saturday nights with Brucie nearly all their lives! My cousin, who is 68, was saying to me the other day how much she enjoys the programme and thinks it wouldn't be so good without him.

He may well go though, of his own free will. Nothing lasts forever.

It certainly will be difficult to replace him. Of course, someone like Anton would be lovely but Anton likes to compete and he can't do both.

Someone who could replace Bruce....

A half trained monkey?

A bottle of milk past its sale by date?

A brick?

I mean pick any item, alive or dead, and it could do a better job on that show!

That's a bit unkind. However, i do think Bruce will go, he is eighty after all.

Tess may well go too.

It would be good to have two people who are familiar with the dancing scene.

Yeah, your right - it is unkind - I apoligise. It just comes from anger at finding out on the other thread how much he gets paid...think the money could go somewhere better!
