Getting my PAC code
Do Vodafone make you write in for your PAC code when you are in your last 1.5 months of your contract?
I am hoping to get a new phone and keep my number, but want the best deal for myself. |

You have to request to cancel the contract and get the PAC by fax or letter - Not sure when the best time to request it is.
Vodafone will probably call you repeatedly and try to give you a deal |

I requested my PAC code from Vodafone the other week as I could get a better deal on 3. Voda naturally tried to get me a better deal but in the end couldn't match 3. So they sent me the PAC code (in the post) and I then called 3. My number gets moved over this Friday - a full two weeks after requesting my PAC number.
(in the meantime I have been using my new 3 contract for the last 2 weeks, just using my old Vodafone phone number by diverting calls from that SIM onto my new 3 SIM - of course come Friday I will have to cancel the divert so that calls come back to my old Voda number that is now a 3 number.........) Pity really, because the number that 3 gave me is quite good - better than my Voda number - although I run a small home based business and it was going to be too much trouble changing phone numbers on letter heads and my clients already have a contact number so I thought it better to keep the number and just get a new phone and port the number over. |

If you are using your phone for business you should be aware that there will be a gap between the end of service on Vodafone and the start of service on 3. This can be several hours, so it might be worthwhile making alternative arrangements on the transfer date.

With Vodafone, you don't need to write to request your PAC. You can call them or e-mail them for it. You only need to write in if you're cancelling the contract and the number altogether without transferring it.
If you are still in contract with Vodafone then you might be asked to pay the line rental to the end of the contract up front before the PAC can be sent, but if you have less than 30 days on your contract you shouldn't be asked for a pre payment. Hope this helps. |

I am hoping to get a new phone and keep my number, but want the best deal for myself. They sent me it via a letter. On the letter is a number for their retention team and they say they recommend you give them a ring before doing anything. I gave them a call and got 20 quid off my monthly bill and a new phone. They didn't hassle me with phone calls or anything before that to get me to stay. |
