I agree, it's because of this I was really looking forward to him returning this series. Penny is in a good position having him as a pro partner.
I had a look on his website and he did compete as a ten dancer in his amateur career

We think some have done more shows because of all the pro demos and scd bbc2 theyve done some more than others ie Anton

Yeah, I think he's had opportunities - e.g. with Patsy Palmer - but he's not, basically, that good a dancer in the Latin arena. Last week's samba and last year's Jive - his, not his partner's - weren't exactly wonderful.

I love Anton to bits, but I think he's more a celebrity than a pro dancer now.

Camilla gets good partners, but just doesn't seem to get them to that top spot.

Lilia is a miracle worker.

Anton is always given very poor dancing partners. Even Patsy seemed incapable of remembering a routine on the night. It would be good to see him with an athlete next time.

Vincent came over as a lovely person this year. Last year he was given someone who was young and could already dance. This year he had Stephanie and was really good to her. It would be interesting to see Brendan or James with a Stephanie next series.

Camilla has only had one good partner and that was Ray who really should have been final material.
James was even less of a dancer than Darren Gough and she managed to get him to the semifinal.

Like I said it's to do with luck more than anything... if Matt Dawson didn't have a substantial fanbase would he really have lasted till the breakthrough American Smooth week? Similarly if Ray was more wellknown he probably would have reached at least the semi-finals.
