Hi
I was in spain recently and used t'internet on my n95. ( thought i had connected through a free wifi access point most of the time but apparently not, as i have been billed for a LOT of usage .) thats another story,so never mind, i am happy to pay the bill as i cant argue with the stats.

looking at my soon to be billed usage online I have been charged for text messages to 447785016005 at 30p a time. 13 messages in total. i did not recognise this number at all but upon googling it turns out to be vodafones sms service centre number. Why have i been charged these amounts and why so many times?
i also have vodafone passport on my account but i have been charged way over 75p a call, in several cases over £10. this was using vodas partner in spain, airtel. can you throw any light on this ? or have i got to ring up again when the bill arrives. this is my fourth month with voda and the fourth time the bill has been wrong.

I always thought that Voda's partner network in Spain was VF Spain?

All texts are charged to the message centre number, 30p ex VAT 35p + 1 sms out of your bundle inc VAT.

Thanks for the info. it makes sense. I had expected any texts I sent to be showing as the actual number texted, not as vodafone message centre.

effectivley you are charged twice for messaging,

the actual charge of a SMS from abroad costs 35p

plus your normal rate, so if you had inclusive SMS then you would use those up and if you do not then it would be an extra 12p a time.

Firstly it will show in your bill the 35p charge "30p excluding VAT" to the SMSC or that number you posted. Then you will see the SMS to the particular number you sent the message to at exactly the same time.

Confusing i know but that is how it shows on the bill.

hope that helps

The information about the texts is spot on. With the calls though, calls are only 75p while you have free minutes left, after that your charged normal rates.

If you did have minutes left, I'd advise you email us using the Online Contact Form (putting FIT135 anywhere in the body of the text) so we can look into it for you.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

faza, i do have minutes left, but i was told by a guy at customer services that they couldnt reassess my bill until it had been officially posted as it may be automatically corrected !
i will wait until i receive it , to check the actual position.

with international calls it can sometimes take a little longer for the charges to come thorough, it has been known to sometimes take up to 2 weeks for the charges to come through correctly
