Battery life on 80GB iPod Classic

I've had my 80GB iPod since they first come out and had no problems at first but the past few weeks it is going totally dead even after only using for about 2 or 3 hours (just listening to music).

I've been charging it most nights (tonight again, 3rd time on the run), maybe using it for approx. 2 hours at night and then approx. 1 hour in the morning. When I come to use it on the way home it is totally dead.

Is anyone else having problems?

Thanks

Bring it back and get it replaced. It's faulty.

I thought you'd say that.

Can I just take it to my local Apple store? I bought it online from Apple.

Thanks for the advice.

Yeh bring it there, if you bought it recently they will probably give you a replacement if you want it and explain that you'd love to be able to use your iPod properly and are too excited to wait .

But anyway, bring it to Apple, with your receipt (print it out) and they should sort it out for you.

You should be getting 30 hours of Audio Playback on your new iPod by the way.

Good luck, I honestly don't see any problems arising for you. . . . . unless you've completely scratched it to bits, but i'm sensing your one of the careful ones.

Let me know how it goes.

It's probably a bug. - http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/gizmodo/f...bug-312597.php

Apparently the latest firmware leads the hard drive to run constantly draining the battery very quickly.

Thanks PR.

I thought it was just mine - should have searched more .

I think I'll still go to Apple and see what they have to say. I doubt that they can do much though until Apple update the software.

I bought my iPod in NY in July, but generally use it to listen from my Bose Sound Dock. last week I was listening to an Audio Book using my earplugs (battery fully charged) I fell asleep, woke up about 2 hours later and the battery was completely flat. I was puzzled as i do expect the battery to last longer than that. It is only OK if I leave it on the sound dock.

Could I take it back to London Apple. It is like new and I do have the receipt and all paperwork.

Or have I just wasted my money?

Im not sure if it makes a difference but when it is in the dock all the time its constantly getting charged all the time, Im not sure if this can effect the battery life.
