Best height for jive
Tango Tiger
18-10-2007
I think there should be a measuring stick (like they have to stop little-uns going on theme park rides) and anybody over 5'2" shouldn't have to do the jive, because it clearly favours short arses . By the way, Tango Tiger is 6 feet tall so will never ever do a jive

Well Matthew Cutler is 6ft plus and he's a former World Champion. His Jive is pretty darn good.

I also thought the smaller you are the better you are at the jive but the previous poster said about Matthew Cutler so I must be wrong

No, generally, it is the rule, but there are glorious exceptions.

I think Gabby is pretty tall, and hers looked good in the training VT.

I think if you are in proportion its much easier. even short people can look gangly if they have longer limbs and a shorter torso.

What about Bryan Watson and Carmen? They are both a pretty tall pair and Jive is by far their best dance. 9 times World champions and 7 times British champions . . . some would say they're the best Latin dancers of all time.

Just thought I'd pop in another example of the Jive danced well (regardless of height)

I've always wondered about what height Karen is. She looks pretty small to me?

About 5ft 4, I think. She's a good bit taller than me but still small.

Brilliant Bryan & Carmen videos! Gorgeousness!

generally speaking latin lends itself to couples 6ft and under so doesnt mean very small dont think I have seen a really tall man and lady do really really well at latin (by that I mean a lady over 5ft 10 or so)

Smaller couples can look better in the Jive as they are more compact and have a lower centre of gravity and therefore look faster.

Tall couples can look gangly, and have to work harder on control to look good.
