Steve Earle
Anybody else like him?
Guys reels off fantastic album after fantastic album and gets nowhere near the recognition he deserves. Latest one 'Washington Square Serenade' is just as good as you'd expect it to to and features an absolutely gorgeous duet with Alison Moorer. To me he should be up their with the Johnny Cash/ Willie Nelson's as a country legend. |

Steve has a new album? I'm there!
I love Steve Earle. Not only does he write fantastic songs, he's also a caring human being who campaigns tirelessly on behalf of the poor, the disadvantaged and is vigorously against the death penalty, as he shows beautifully in the song "Over yonder" off Transcendental Blues -- excellent album! You're right in that he gets virtually no recogition, and it' sad. Here's a guy who's done wrong, paid his dues and is still making wonderful music, and the mainstream record-buying public and the charts just ignore him. Class act! My favourite of his albums would probably be either the abovementioned TB or maybe The Hard Way: that's a fantastic album too. |

I keep meaning to listen to some more of Steve Earle, I like 'Copperhead Road', and he's also in my favourite TV series - 'The Wire'. Is there a 'Best Of' collection available?
