Do all DOI fans also like SCD?

It's been said that the two programmes have exactly the same fan base, that it would be unusual to find someone who likes one but not the other.
On the face of it, they are pretty similar, with identical elements such as celebs/pros, judges (and one nasty one), elimination, dance/skate-offs etc.

So why do I love DOI... but find SCD one of the most depressing experiences it is possible to have?
DOI is bright and shiny... the set positively shimmers as if it's Christmas every day.
The pros and the judges have as much charisma and appeal as the celebs.
And it moves at a much faster pace. (presumably cause you move faster on skates than on foot!)

SCD is full of dark, autumnal colours that depress me. When they all come out at the beginning, to that slow version of the theme music, it's like a funeral march...
And the sight of someone like Willie Thorne togged up in a penguin suit, waltzing some girl round with a stupid fake smile on his face convinces me that there truly is no point to life...
My housemate loves both shows, and while I lap up Satdy nights in watching DoI, I feel I'm gonna have to stay out after work till Christmas to avoid the spirit crushing experience of SCD. It's a horrible programme.

Is it just me then?

I prefer DOI (mainly because of Jayne torvill & Christoper Dean) but I enjoy SCD too.

I don't like SCD at all - I did watch it once or twice to give it a fair chance, but I really didn't like it. Ballroom dancing isn't my cup of tea. It just didn''t have the same feel to it as DOI either! I'm a DOI freak, me

i like DOI better but i do like SCD. They could get rid of Bruce and Tess and replace them with some better presenters. Some of the dances are a bit more fiery than in DOI but thats how it's supposed to be. Although the celebs sometimes don't give it. I think alot of the pros have the same charisma as the celebs but some of the celebs have no charisma - like Willie Thorne.

I'll get flamed for saying this, but I find SCD a bit old fogeyish. I can honestly say I only know one person who watches it and thats my 85 year old Nan. Everyone else I know watches X Factor.

I did watch SCD last year when it was repeated on a Sunday, but thats because nothing else was on. I also hate that awful live band, the singing is terrible.

On the whole I find DOI younger and funkier. But then Ive always like ice skating anyway.

I've loved DOI from the start, but this is the first year I've taken much interest in SCD, and I'm only really enjoying a few of them. I agree about it being for an older audience, in terms of the music and I think the celebs.

I think it's more fun watching skating than dancing, and with the dancing, a slightly rubbish dancer is just that. A bit rubbish. With DOI, even the rubbish ones are entertaining, because there's the sense of danger that they might fall over. You still get that as they get better too, because they are skating at the limit of their ability.

You also get Torville and Dean, and I never tire of watching them skate. They are just fantastic. And I  Phillip Schoffield.

I don't agree that SCD is for an older audience as they use contemporary music. I loved it from the start - ok i haven't watched every series but one night during the first series - i was watching it whilst having my dinner with my brother and he told me he realised why i liked it. He saw they used modern music instead of all being classical and that certainly alot of the celebs were entertaining. Even Chris Parker who was absolute rubbish - was funny and entertaining to watch.

I love both, Strictly come dancing is my favourite (largely due to me being a huge fan of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean) but I think that both programmes are great entertainment

I have never watched SCD - I watched DOI because of Jayne & Chris (and now Andrei, lol!) and despite the fact I used to do ballroom dacing as a child I have never wanted to watch SCD.

the two things that make DOI a million times better than that horrible show Strictly Come Dancing? jayne torvill and christopher dean!! and i just love the freshness and challenge of DOI.

I can't stand SCD - believe me i've tried to watch it, 2 or 3 times but i end up switching it off ater about 10 mins in disgust (especially bruce forsyth, he just annoys me!) whereas with DOI i could watch it over and over again!

I watch SCD but only when I've taped it so I can wind on all the talking (especially Brucie!) & everything but the dancing!

I love Dancing on Ice though its brilliant, I can't miss it and always watch live.

I love them both, glad they don't clash.

DOI is something to look forward to after Strictly finishes, pity about the adverts in doi though.
Absolutely

I love them both, but DOI just has the edge, I so admire anyone taking part in what could be quite dangerous.

Cant wait for it to start.
