I love both shows but I have to say I get a bit sick of Brucie on SCD !!! Both have major plus points namely Matthew Cutler for SCD and Andrei and Pavel for DOI !!!!!

I can't stand Strictly, it simply drives me mad - one dance, one round of Bruce's tired old jokes and those strange judges with their paddles is more than enough - apologies to all fans I know it's very popular but it's not for me

I can't stand SCD and I'll only watch it if I really like one of the contestants but even then I don't watch it much.

The dances bore me but I think it's the judges that really ruin it for me, I find them really annoying.

I used to be an ardent Strictly fan, but it has gradually been losing the 'fun' side of it for me - this year in particular, there was a distinctly uneasy feel about it - I hope DOI doesn't head the same way.

I watched SCD1 and got hooked. I watched DOI1 and just about managed to watch to the end but, until this year, I haven't watched it since. I love everything about SCD but the only part of DOI I enjoy is the skating. Also, I like to get to know the pros as well as the celebs which is easier to do on SCD by watching ITT and the back stage reports.

I used to love SCD but it has gone downhill so much, I haven't watched it (apart from the odd few minutes when hubby is flicking through channels) for 3 years.

I love love Dancing On Ice but absolutely detest SCD. It is the most pointless show ever. It just doesn't entertain me at all.DOI uses proper soundtracks wheras SCD gets covers of people singing painfully. Not realy much of a comparison between them is there?!

Love both shows although I prefer SCD to DOI. I think its because personally I would prefer to learn all those different dances than skate around and add a few new moves etc. but what basically amounts to the same thing.

I dont even mind the presenters on SCD although if I have recorded the show I will fastforward Brucie's jokes and get straight to the dancing.

DOI I just see as a bit of fun whereas I tend to take SCD more seriously, trying to learn the names of different moves etc.

An interesting thread and goes to show that the appeal of the 2 shows is different even if there are similarities. I like DOI, but love SCD. I like seeing the different dance styles, enjoy seeing the professionals getting involved and and I like the fact that there are no adverts interrupting the show.

I've always loved Strictly although it has been spoilt a bit on the last series.

I had been looking forward to DOI. I've always enjoyed watching it as I tried to learn to skate many years ago and only managed to go backwards as I fell. Unfortunately I am not enjoying this series because its turned into the Jason Gardiner show.

I love both, but DOI does annoy me a bit.

I get really annoyed by the DOI final and that stupid flying.

Also Phillip annoys me with his SHOUTING, and I love him on This Morning.

Ruthie annoys me because she know naff all about skating and it's frustrating when the skating judges give more encouraging marks than she does.

I only get annoyed by Karen Hardy and Bruce's scriptwriter on the other side.

I love both shows This year is my first time seeing both the tours so it should be pretty good

I enjoy both shows. It would be overkill if either show was on twice as much, so the 2 shows compliment each other nicely

This year's SCD was hard work, the series seemed never-ending. Hopefully DOI won't be as tedious as this year's SCD was - even the controversies on SCD were tedious by the end!

I like both, but I think I prefer Strictly. DOI is a bit too cheesy and gets boring after a while. At least they do different dances on Strictly and they actually get proper celebrities.

SCD everytime - both then men and the women are on an even footing - women can hide bad skating behind big lifts on DOI and the men can't hide at all and if they can't skate can't lift so they are behind from the start.

Also DOI's constant judges intro we know who they are and if you have them all score talk to them all and at least Bruce doesn't shout!

I tape DOI and watch most of it on fast forward pausing to watch the skating As someone else has said with SCD's ITT we get to know more about what's going on with the pro's etc which helps interest and I like the live band element even if the singers aren't great!

Don't really like DOI and only come on to these boards to read JfW's Musings on Sunday Evening!

For me the judges, pros and celebs have very little charisma or appeal, but I love all things Strictly.

I love both shows but if I had to choose, I'd say I prefer DOI. I must admit that I like the way DOI uses original, albeit edited, music tracks for the performances. The Strictly band and singers often do a substandard job of the music on the show. I also find Brucie very trying, but then I always did!

A number of people have said they prefer original music but the whole tradition of dance involves dancing to live bands and singers-which i think gives a unique atmosphere to SCD. Although I guess you dont have live bands to skating.
Perhaps this is why so many singers mime these days, because people are so used to, and expect cd quality performances-which for a number of modern day singers is practically impossible away from the studio.

I watched the first series of SCD and didn't like it that too much. So when DOI started I had my doubts as it sounded to similar, however I love DOI and have become such a huge fan over the last 3/4 years. I love Torvill and Dean on and off the ice, they seem so supportive of the contestants and really seem to enjoy what they do.
I like the fact that the contestants seem to be taking more of risk within this show, I don't mean that in a bad way, but there is more dram to be had in DOI than SCD.
I also prefer the presenters, the relationship between Phil and Holly is lovely, natural presenters, nothing seems to be forced when they're on screen. The judges seem a lot more appealing as well in this show, okay Jason can be out spoken 95% of the time, but I find the others lovely and very supportive of the contestants, understanding how difficult it is to stand up on the ice, let alone learning to dance and perform certain 'tricks' in a matter of weeks.

I love SCD and can take or leave DOI tbh.

DOI is typical ITV fodder - dumbed down and hyped up TV that can turnout to be a bit boring.

It often reminds me of Gladiators the way they whip up the crowd into a frenzy and I'd put money on more kids watching DOI that SCD. DOI is a poor imitation of SCD.

I'm aware of the traditions of live music for dancing and piped music for skating, so maybe I should have qualified my reservations about the Strictly musicians.

They are perfectly fine when performing classical or big band pieces, but I feel they fall down badly when adapting modern pop or rock songs to fit the format.

Personally, if I were going to see an artist live, I'd be very suspicious if they re-created the sound quality of their CDs.
