Help! Panasonic DMR EX85 - HDMI output not working

I have a Panasonic DMR EX85, connected to a Sony KDL 32V2500, using an HDMI lead to the TV's AV5 input. Last night, I tried to use it, but there was no signal, just a blank screen. The Panny seemed to be responding to remote commands, but nothing was reaching the screen.

By swapping leads and connections, I eliminated the HDMI lead or the TV's AV5 input as the cause of the problem. They are all fine. Then I connected the Panny up to the TV's AV1 input using a scart lead, and it displayed the signal as normal (albeit not upscaled, of course). So, that leaves me with the HDMI output on the Panny as the only cause...doesn't it?

The Panny is only 6 months old, so is still under warranty. Is there anything else anyone can think of that I should check before I take it back to House of Fraser for a refund?

Hope someone can help, cos I'm scratching my head here.

I am only guessing, but you might have to change some settings in the Functions > Set-up menu. Have a look at page 51 of the user manual.

I had exactly the same problem with my Panasonic DMR EX85.
I too, tried all the usual things with no success. I don't know if yours has the same fault as mine had, but I cured mine by removing the plug from the wall for about a minute, and then plugging it back in again. This must have caused it to re-set the machine.
As I said, it worked for mine, and if you have not already tried this, it's worth a go.
If you have ever had a Sky box, you would be familliar with them playing up, and needing a re-set in this way. That's where I got the idea to try it on my panny.
Good luck.

You are the Man!

Unplugged it for 30 seconds, and hey presto, it's working!

You're welcome, glad it did the job.

Had exactly the same fault on mine today. Was really pleased when I found this possible solution - AND IT WORKED!!

Just turned off at the mains, waited for a few moments, then turned on again. Hey presto - HDMI output restored.

Thanks very much!
