Your favourite feature of the TF5800
ianmoticon

Leaving aside the ability to record and playback, what would you say was your favourite feature of the TF5800?

You're only allowed one!

The ability to use TAPs in order to tailor the machine how I want it.

I think you guys are playing into the evil ones hands.
I'm gonna go with the completely standard program guide. Much better than my previous set-bottom-boxes/idtv.

On reflection, I think that my really favourite feature is

the Toppy itself!

Indeed, I would happily buy another one.

I will most certainly, but until that model hits the shelves, the bog-standard TF5800 will do in the interim, as it is so good even without the additions that the YF5815 has.

And of course, it's black all the way - for me black has always been the new black.

I think my favourite feature is the speedy processor

What on earth is wrong with you? I think we get the picture that you don't like the Toppy. So why keep posting? This forum is filled with what look to be almost identical threads all started by you. How you haven't been banned is a mystery to me. And don't give me any nonsense about freedom of speech because spam doesn't have that right.

My opinion was a genuine one. The processor is faster than on other STBs and copes well with running TAPs along with the basic functions, in my opinion.

If you don't stop victimizing me then I will make a formal complaint.

I also like the understated looks - for me a piece of kit has to sit there & do a job, not look fancy and only do half a job. That's also the reason why it has to be black - unobtrusive when partnered with all of my other (black) kit.

I'm not victimising you, that I can assure you. But look in the Topfield forum - almost every post is started by you, and it looks like you're just trying to achieve an adverse reaction. If you have problems with the Toppy, fine; but I think you're going about it in the wrong way.

I think that it's more than "looks like" to me. This DS forum has in my view been turned into a complete joke, it might as well be renamed as one poster's personal sandpit. I think that anyone just glancing at the threads and specifically the thread starter, will form an opinion right away.

Anyway, favourite feature? It really is difficult to choose, I've already listed a few, but I suppose that if I summed it up I'd say that really it has to be the TF5800 as a package in its own right.

Perhaps you should make a formal complaint - the 'alert' button is on the left side of the screen.

I like the fact that just about any idiot can own a Toppy.

The fact that the volume goes up and down with the volume keys on the remote. Not all STBs adjust the analogue (SCART or UHF), meaning that you need two remote controls for "normal" TV viewing.

I'm particularly impressed by its ability to let you 'rewind' as far as the buffer will let you (OK, I know that's not unique), but then, it lets you start recording from the beginning of something that's happened up to an hour ago. It's proved useful on more than a couple of occasions when my wife has poked her head round the door, with one of those 'you might have told me, I'd have liked to have seen that' looks on her face.

From a 'hobbyists' point of view, its ability to run TAPs is a brilliant idea.

Chris - you can now patch the firmware to allow a 2- or 4-hr timeshift buffer. Have a look on the toppy site.

Wow i just got my tf5800! Its awesome, compared to my old freeview box about 4 years. Absolutely love being able to record to digital channels, and still have a small list of other channels i can still watch, or watch a recorded programme!!

Be sure to check out Toppy.org.uk - you'll find pretty much everything there is to know about it there! I assume you're using it "out the box"? It can do so much more.

Yep at the min, 'out the box'. I've discovered toppy.org.uk this morning and joined the forums there. I've been reading about TAPs and stuff, and look forward to setting up MyStuff and now and next and things
